    Upcoming changes to HQ specifications

In patch 1.21 the crafting system will see many changes and revamps such as adjustments to crafting quality, the rate in which finished goods result in HQ, changes to the “Touch Up” specifications, and changes to HQ equipment stats.

We feel that with these changes it will be easier to craft HQ items than it is currently. Those of you anxious to learn more will be glad to know that we’ll be releasing specific details in the near future on Topics!

Awesome, I knew it was going to get easier and more intentional, but I am glad to hear HQ Items will be getting stat overhauls. The current bonuses are useless.

    Guaranteed HQ results.

Tiger Girl, if possible could you give me a confirmation if what you mean with this:

Until Patch 1.20 is released, the current specs for HQ items will be used. Also, in the new specs, HQ items will only be created if every ingredient used is HQ. We want to make sure that you will not experience a sense of futility when your synthesized item turns into NQ at the last moment.
Is the “Work hard to get HQ materials and you will get a guaranteed HQ result” still confirmed?
That was the feature I was awaiting for the most in patch 1.20, but since it was postponed I'm really looking forward to it in 1.21. Also, it'll lessen a lot my inventory space, with all the old +3 materials I've saved up.

Thanks if you can confirm it.

That's something I'd like to know as well.

I've been hoarding HQ materials for months now, waiting for the day I can finally use them to insta-HQ anything. If that's not going to happen, I should probably start getting rid of all my +1/+3 fish. I'm not sure if it's still "high quality" anyway, after my retainers have been carrying it around for months...

We don't need easier HQ. The rate is fine the way it is now. If you mean all HQ material = HQ finished item or part, then that's very welcome.

Other than that, keep the current rate.

I'm all for Full HQ Mats = HQ Output. It's also very nice to hear that maybe there will be other stats involved with HQ on armor as the DEF bonus and Meld% increases are nice, but those aren't enough usually to make them worth going for.

Oh, and what about working on processed materials and the other craftables we don't get touch ups for?

And what challenge is there sitting back and watching to see if the RNG smiles on you?

No, seriously, there is precious little 'skill' in the silly mini-games, they're simply long drawn-out version of the RNG rolls that took place while you watched a crystal spin in FFXI. Choosing which type of synth attempt to try may involve the use of a couple of brain cells which XI didn't, however the outcome is stil ENTIRELY down to the RNG, the player has no control over it AT ALL beyond this single decision.

Suggesting there's any 'challenge' here beyond the usual SE challenge to you to endure long tedious, time-sinks is somewhat silly IMO.
