It does not mean that SE and the community cannot take steps to minimize the possibilities. That is similar to saying you cannot stop crime, so why try to minimize it."Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB" is a thing for a reason. It's unreasonable to expect SE or the ESRB to police every interaction someone could have with fellow players in an online environment.
Know who should be concerned about what their sub-18 aged children are playing and what kinds of things are being encountered during the game? Parents.
Parents need to get off their asses to understand what their kids are actually doing, the kinds of experiences the games they play expose them to, and take an active role in their children's hobbies and pastimes to ensure they're positive and healthy.

No, it's saying "You don't pre-emptively arrest everyone and strap a straitjacket on all of them to stop all crime".

That does not make any sense. People not advertising an activity technically forbidden by a business in its own game in the first place in order to help curb an actual crime from taking place is not the same as arresting everyone and placing them in straight jackets. That is something a government and not a business would do.

ERP isn't my thing and won't ever be but I highly doubt that SE would ever outright ban it considering what a huge draw it is for a good chunk of players. Also once the line of "No Erp" passes then we get into the situation if defining what exactly "erotica" entails which varies from person to person.
Honestly I think the burden of protecting minors from this kind of stuff is on parents and family. Sex is human and it's going to happen in spaces that a big majority of people congregate. I play with my underage siblings in a bunch of social games and I moniter them as much as I can to guide them through content to limit their interactions and also keep the door open to talk to them nonjudgementally if they get curious or if someone makes them uncomfortable and how to handle it. Which I think is an important part of learning about the internet and internet safety that young people need in the digital age. The problem isn't ERP it's the sick people who would use it to take advantage of a minor; an informed and monitered minor is going to know how to walk away and get help with an uncomfortable or threatening situation or even just to ask questions if they're curious over a minor who is navigating content on their own and afraid to ask for help.

You must have missed the part where SE said that such things are against the ToS. Personally, I don't really care what people do in the privacy of their own chats. However, I think it is in poor taste to "recruit" for ERP and the like through the PF. That is only asking for trouble for both the players involved and SE itself.ERP isn't my thing and won't ever be but I highly doubt that SE would ever outright ban it considering what a huge draw it is for a good chunk of players. Yea, I haven't seen a single instance of people advertising for the specific type of thing you are claiming is happening.
That's your head doing that. 18+ nightclubs are innocuous. People go there to unwind. They tend to be cool venues to have raffles, giveaways, and fun contests.
But you're up in here trying to destroy a positive social aspect of the game.
You're the worst sort of online citizen.
I report ERPing in public chat channels. If you wanna advertise an event as 18+ and in a designated location and in a private chat log be my guest. I don't wanna walk into a public zone like Ul'dah and find some sexual things being done in shout/say/yell.
As long as you keep your ERP to tells/linkshells/other private channels go right ahead. I don't care until it starts to spill into the public channels.

Saw one such person an hour ago in the PF. And at least 2-3 different "nightclubs" promoting brothel activity as well. Perhaps it is relative to one's data center, but it is a fairly common occurrence on Crystal.Yea, I haven't seen a single instance of people advertising for the specific type of thing you are claiming is happening.

What? There are nine party finders for ERP establishments right this moment on Crystal.Yea, I haven't seen a single instance of people advertising for the specific type of thing you are claiming is happening.

Some aren't even trying to be coy about it
If you honestly think these are a positive social aspect of the game, you have no idea what goes on inside of some of them.

They've said the same about ACT but there isn't a chance in hell they will ever ban it. Bluntly stated, companies will always say what sounds good but do what nets them better profits. You must have missed the part where SE said that such things are against the ToS.
