    I'm not a big fan of competition... I think that should fall under PvP ^^;
I found that mobs had a tendency to get monopolized by certain LSs in FFXI, so if they are planning on adding similar content in this game, they should really work on that.

Sadly, at the moment it does. Hopefully they will change it to allow an option at least for larger groups to do things.

This game is PvE. If we need competition it should be in the form of direct PvP. Like the colosseum and Frintlines events they plan to add.

No HNM claim wars as "content."
PvP competition does not help in any way server wide. Gath was also talking about PvE competition which IS needed. L2MMO

Competition not only gives birth to goals, but it helps stimulate the game. If you don't like or want competition then play Second Life. Social games don't need competition.

    It was boring.
There might have not been a real challenge when it came to claiming, but when you killed them and started gearing your LS up it gave you a sense of accomplishment. The competition also helped with the economy.

Again, PvP does nothing for a game other than "Har har, our epeen is bigger than yours" it does not really help the servers in a whole. The yes, and each shell was competing on who monopolized. Hence competition, hence an AH with higher tier items.

Gath is not talking about PvP because PvP has not much relevance to the progression as a server.

Only thing I'd ever agree with Gath on is PvP truly does nothing for a game overall. Also yes, "Claim competitions" is actually something that was fun to do, it may not be fun for people in general because you either like or don't like it, much like I find PvP absolutely worthless to an MMO, I'd load up Street Fighter or Tekken if I want a fighting competition.

As said, the fun wasn't spamming your voke/dia macro and trying not to hit a Darter, the fun was rising your linkshell to the top and gearing your loyal members..you can gear yourself in MMOs now and feel almost nothing because there's zero competition, zero interaction, everything is instanced and you don't even play with people on your own server at times (Dungeon finder.)

Yes, but people don't seem to understand the concept that any competition helps that's PvE side. PvP it only is for personal gain, and that gain doesn't even really do anything for that person.

Sorry, but i guess it's agree to disagree. I won't feel closer to people camping and spamming a move to claim before someone else. It seems childish. And how would it be fair for the party that didn't get the target? Time sink with absolutely no gain. If your want LS competition, beat an instance before them. Of course, they probably won't care if you do or not, but I mean at least you can set a flame under your own ass without messing it up for people that are "good" with not having to fight other players for things.

    With no gain?

Spending time with other people has no gain?
When you finally see yourself or another one of your friends finally get something is no gain?
When your shell is looked at as something other than a shell is no gain?

You must be one of those selfish types I keep hearing about.

I didn't bother reading this past the second time you talked about yourself in the third person.

Most that are into LS competition have since gone onto greener pastures. I don't think you'll get much positive feedback till there's something to bring them back into the fold.

I've said before I enjoyed how EQ2 did it with raid instances + roaming world bosses. The world bosses dropped similar loot to the raid instances with a unique drop here and there. That way guilds can compete to gear their members that much faster if they went for world bosses + instances.

Still, the days of pure LS competition fighting for world bosses I think have seen their golden age end. I did it for years in EQ1 stomping out the competition and watched them quit over it. Doesn't really promote the health of a game when only the top 5% can get access to the endgame. It's akin to the pvp sandbox problem where the population drops off as the wolves feed on the sheep.

Even though Molly's gil is worth less than Gath's, Molly agrees wholeheartedly with Gath. What's up with that?
