I'm under the impression I explained myself poorly and I'm sorry about it.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the guy blacklisted me because he though I was the party leader and I decided to disband without warning and/or the opportunity for another to take the lead, party was almost full at that point.

I can't imagine pugging savage content. Seems to me that it would require an established group coordinating via voice comms.
(Never ran savage, only watched enough videos to know I should avoid it.)

    Not really.
Since FFXIV boss fights are scripted, it's mostly about following steps like a cooking recipe. Voice is nice for on the fly coordination and improvisation if things went south and you could maybe salvage it with some heroics. But for the most part, all you need to do is prepare via guide unless you run blind practice and be able to stand where you're supposed to stand for clear parties.
If you break it down, you don't have to remember that many things - far less than guides suggests because they are allround guides, not tailored to specific roles. So you get bombarded with seemingly important information that has no relevance for you in the actual fight.

What statics with voice are great for is making call outs while learning the fight or to help people who have trouble with specific mechanics, coordinating burst and buff alignment, coordinating healing and improvising to save botched runs. None of those are neccessary to clear, though. I pug a great deal and while many parties are pure chaos this late into the tier, most parties still clear.
I love that my dps in our static can tell me when bursts are coming up because I still haven't memorized all burst windows in all fights for cards, so something like "melee combo up soon" or "dumping feathers and esprit soon" helps me a great deal. Same with on the fly coordination between my co healer and me if someone took additional damage or needs ress. Or if someone botched a mechanic and we need to quickly adjust like scooting over on 14, someone filling in for e6s tethers, sacrificing themself for e7s orbs etc.
    But it's not mandatory.

The fights are scripted enough that you can more or less learn what you need to do and do it in any group. Though I do admit that it was much easier when I was still on the Japanese servers because there they used macros before the fight to print the raids starts so everyone would be on the same page. We don't do that here and it drives me up the freaking wall.

had a really good experience running Qitana Ravel for the first time today - freshly returned to the game, I was still feeling a bit finicky about healing but decided to just hit the ground running with my Astro. The tank was really, really good - used all their CDs, popped the blackest night regularly during huge trash pulls (tHANK YOU!!!) and the dpses were just bursting and melting down everything. It's been such a long time since I had run into an amazing group and we felt like a well oiled lean mean killing machine. In the end I was a bit sad to say goodbye to them (especially that 10/10 tank) but I'm so glad my return to healing was so positive!

Is it sad i've almost played nearly 2-3 years and haven't once looked into how to actually make macros? its on one hand helped my learning of skill flow without needing it to be on an auto button. (but im also on controller so macros really don't help me much anyway since i never have the issue a keyboard player might in having an overstuffed bar.)

honestly I'm not good at it. so i just never bothered.

Just had one, need to shout into the wind a bit.

Baelsar's Wall, I'm tanking, story is about the group's RDM.

As a matter of habit I look behind me when I do my initial run out of the Circle of Waiting just to make sure all the party members are there, nobody's disconnecting, that sort of thing. So I'm running down the first stretch looking behind me and notice one player is still just standing there. When she didn't move after several seconds I stopped, expecting to see the Pokeball of Doom. After several more seconds she just says "question" in party chat.

Ok.. maybe it's about the dungeon or about running roulettes. Could be important, let's take care of it before we start fighting things. "Yes?"

    Full minute passes

"even if you're not posting, but you're using apps like insta, are you technically on social media?"

    ...
    ...

Someone else answers "yes" and I start pulling when I see she's finally worked that particular brain bender out and has started moving. We get done with the first few packs and: "second question."

At this point I'm getting annoyed and respond with "no, dungeon now."

She's apparently already begun typing and is at the point of no return so it comes out anyway: "bought masks from amazon, but they're made in china"

Again absolutely nothing to do with the dungeon or the game or anything that's going on at this moment. It's at this point I notice she's been hardcasting verthunder and veraero this whole time. For anyone unfamiliar with RDM, these are not spells you would ever hardcast. They have really long cast times specifically to indicate to you that casting them manually like this is a no-no. (nb: except as part of an opener during a countdown, yes I know). At the first boss I go ahead and tell her she should not be hardcasting these things. Obviously I'm tanking at the time and don't have the time necessary to go into details about a class she's been playing for 14 levels and clearly hasn't got a clue on. There's a little more back and forth and the net result is she starts casting Veraero II on the boss.

    ...
    ...

That's not better. Again for those unfamiliar, veraero II and verthunder II are AoEs and are meant to be part of your AoE rotation. Oh on trash packs? Hardcasting Scatter... the spell you're supposed to use with dualcast after your veraero/thunder IIs.

At this point I've had enough and it's clear to me she's just here to troll and waste everyone's time. As soon as the boss died I tried to initiate a kick but one of the other party members opened the chest so I couldn't. That loot sat in the roll window until after the second boss was down when I was able to do it fast enough to get in there before someone opened the chest. Yeah... vote dismiss rejected. Apparently everyone else was perfectly alright with this person deliberately wasting their time. This was acceptable behavior to them.

Anyway, wanted to share... made me feel a little better to get that out there. Do with it what you will.

Ahhh. Monday night which is my time to get on my alt on Crystal. There was some shenanigans tonight. -Moreso than usual XD

First, we failed the DPS check on Shiva Normal (Eden). I... had never experienced that before tonight. I should have been tipped off when I was consistently #3 on the enmity list when we had a SAM, MNK and BLM in our party. I was BRD (in barely 480 gear). We almost failed it the second time too but squeaked by on 80%. -_-; We also had second rounds of her mechanics. But we got it. Eventually.

Second, healer dies in final boss on Anyder (right at about 50%-60% or so). Paladin kept us alive while the Monk and I (as BLM now) put her to rest. Good job us!

Third, got scolded during Syrcus for not switching to Nocturnal Sect with a WHM in the party. I mean, I get that shields and regens are a good pair (and basic healer etiquette back in the day) but when I asked 'You don't want stacked regens?' they replied 'you can't stack regens.' -Um. I realize that was a thing in... HW I think? But dem regens stack now (even double WHM regens do, I believe). When I tried to convince them otherwise (or try to get them to use Regen or Medica 2 with my Aspected skills so they could see for themselves) they eventually refused and just... kind of stopped using those skills all together. I was actually going to go NOCTURNAL originally but with the shenanigans I usually see during Alliance, I figured more potent HoT would be erring on the side of safety. -Lesson learned, I suppose.
