I mean, you say aggro isn't an indicator of DPS, but then went on to say that WARs can get more aggro by getting direct hits and crits, aka more damage.
But no, I didn't switch to DPS adds or anything like that because I was stunned from being targeted with Chaotic Strike and couldn't perform a single action for a whole minute. Even after it ended (because no one broke me out of it), I still had more aggro than everyone but the MT.
DPS generates aggro. I was using Malefic in between Helios or Aspected Helios, but I rarely had to heal. If everyone was using their skills (which they were, because they were also too busy to break people out of Chaotic Strike), they should've generated more aggro than me even before I was stuck because I hardly needed to heal at all and literally every DPS should be about to out-DPS an AST. Then it's like I just got up and walked away for ~60 seconds and came back to still having the 2nd highest amount of aggro. I couldn't perform a single skill, action, or even move. Under normal circumstances everyone should've bumped me back to the bottom after a full minute of inaction.
To compare, in past duties when I was playing as SAM, I could die, lose all my aggro, get raised, then start DPSing again and at least reach 4th or 5th highest by the end of the fight. Because DPS generates aggro. I never said it's a measure of how good someone is, but it is somewhat of a good gauge for how much damage a DPS player is doing. That's how tanks would actually lose aggro before ShB if someone was doing a lot of damage and the tank wasn't doing a good job of keeping aggro.
So, to summarize, there's no logical reason why an AST would have the second highest amount of aggro in a fight, especially when 90% of their aggro is from damage, and especially with a bunch of hard-hitting DPS present. Unless they were doing jack all.
