Asexual? Rather than base it purely on gender, try looking at it as a reflection of character personality. A good example would be the monk idle pose since; the male version can be perceived as a cooler/edgier pose, whereas the female version is perceivable as a more focused/trained looking pose. One or the other may not fit what they had in mind for their character or even race/clan. A female midlander may find the current female pose fine for them, but a female highlander might want the more rough looking pose the males have.

That said, it is all subjective per person. Some just prefer one pose over the other and don't put much thought into their character traits outside of gameplay. Male character's get Kain Highwind's iconic pose for dragoon's idle stance, but females lean on their lance in an, in my opinion, awkward pose.

I wouldn't be opposed to getting the poses for available both genders, but I'd personally prefer to see one or two more poses to reflect such distinctions in personality rather than just a copy/paste. It'd be super low on the priority list of things to be done, but it'd be a nice-to-have.

Personally, I wish they had more options to let you choose your character's emotes/personality.
Maybe I want a Viera who acts cutesy or a Lalafell that's edgy.
The uniqueness wouldn't come form the limitation but from the ability to mix-and-match.

Homogenization across genders would be giving both genders the same pose and no others so that whenever anyone of a particular class draws their weapon you would always see the same pose.

Giving both genders both poses means you would see more variety.

I have not see any pose that is distinctively male or female. Assigning them to genders seems entirely arbitrary, even from a very conservative viewpoint.

I don't think anyone has ever implied they want them to only have one pose, and giving both genders both poses is still homogenization and wouldn't at all increase variety. Giving each gender/race new emotes that could reflect a similar emotion while still being different would.

In the end it's all about giving people choice.

If you want something more unique, think of something more inherent to a race, such as their face, body habitus, and a bunch of other physical features. Something as incredibly mundane as how your character stands with their weapon drawn out should not be ground for clutching onto uniqueness.

My issue with your argument is that, having played the game for a while as you also have, you know that face/body/physical changes are not ever going to happen. They've made it clear not to ever expect that. Changing or adding a new pose or two is something that could feasibly happen. Instead of asking for something lazy that already exists though, why not ask for something new or unique?

I understand your point. I will, however, maintain that uniqueness being down to “oh this race/gender holds X or Y item in one way while this other race/gender holds it like this.” Is... well, silly.

I was banging my head against the wall for the longest time trying to figure out how everyone else was doing this sick DRK pose, only to realize it's just how /cpose works on female characters with the weapon drawn...

Fair enough. It's not like there is anything else left to "cling" to anyway. I would like more, but I'm not foolish enough to think that everything won't be universal in the end.
