I know there's been a push to make sure everyone can use everything, and that's fine, but I don't think that should come at the expense of making things like hairstyles that reflect both more masculine and more feminine aesthetics.

As far as the OPs comments on ear mustaches.... I'm pretty sure, though I may be mistaken, that those are added to every hairstyle he would try on because of race? I seem to recall in my cat days that every style had them to cover up what would have otherwise been ear holes on other races.
I agree with you and I'm personally against so much unisex styles but I'm not part of the marketing team so I don't have a say in this
