Regarding Firmament Titles For 5.3

So what can they do to give extra rewards so people have reason to try for it again?
Right now if they keep to the original plan there is no reason for people to try get rank 100 again and that sucks since something like this is a good idea.

I'm hoping for some kind of middleground that will allow us to try again for different rewards that's my issue.
Either way i'm going to be going for top 100 again it will just suck if i get nothing out of it because i did last time if that makes sense.

But you do have a point with achievement hunters so why not give the people who rank top 100 more then once something else maybe glamour?

It's a mix of keeping it exclusive and wanting something from the next phase that keeps me from liking keeping the titles.

False. If they keep it the same, those who didn't get top 12 last time have a chance this time for the unique title. If they add ANYTHING to top 12 again. Ya'll aren't getting anything because those same power houses are going to want the special shit, me included. That's just how that is with the top Crafters who can afford to dump gil on mats or have them shoveled to them. BUt if nothing changes, those who didn't place top or didn't try in general last time due to being told it'd stay the same have that chance again without people like us getting in the way

Alright but that's exactly what we were promised; no reason to do it again.
That is what many people were counting on. The try hards like myself don't need to grind it out again, the other players who were patiently waiting their turn now have missed out.
There should not be anything new from ranking. This was supposed to be something to drive engagement but also for everyone to enjoy. The original plan of not giving out new titles and new achievements would encourage exactly this.

I agree with a lot of people here, I'll repost what I said in an other thread.

Please don't introduce new titles.

The fact that there was only one window to compete for those first titles means that if you couldn't dedicate a significant amount of time to the game in those specific 10 days then the titles are lost forever. That was my case: my country was preparing to go on lockdown thanks to covid and I had to work a lot during the 10 days period. I had very little time to dedicate to the game. I was led to believe that I could work on the "Saint of the Firmament" title later in a new season so I didn't felt too bad that I didn't even have the opportunity to try! Reading now that the titles are changing is a massive disappointment!

I'm certain I'm not the only one in this situation (being covid or other IRL reasons), and hope that the decision on this is gonna be reversed to what was said previously. More people should be allowed to compete for the first titles. In my opinion, the new ones are less appealing (this is personal taste, of course). Some might find the new ones better and compete again despite not wanting to grind that much again (and I'm not even counting the completionists who will go for titles and achievement points) meaning that, as was said by others in this thread, it's very likely that this will be the same people wining again.

I'm not a fan of time limited anything in this game and believe that everything should always be obtainable by any player, anytime as long as they can demonstrate sufficient skill (e.g. savage/ultimate raiding, sightseeing log jump puzzles, etc.) or commit sufficient time to the grind (e.g. earning 500,000 skyward points on all jobs, completing relic weapons, participating in 2,000 mentor roulettes, killing large numbers of hunt targets, etc.)

I was not a fan of how the phase 2 leaderboard was implemented to start with but at least took solace that subsequent phases would provide a second opportunity for those players who didn't place top 12 the first time. I think many players thought the leaderboard would run every week and not just once per patch like we've discovered. I was very disappointed at the Live Letter to learn that Yoshi was considering new achievements or titles for the next phase of the restoration. Like many other players here, I agree that the titles should be the same, the achievements should be the same and there should be no additional unique prizes for placing top 12. Of course, there should still be new collectables for participating in the Ishgard Restoration in general; just not tied to one's rank in Phase 3 leaderboards in order to avoid attracting players who already won last season.

Others have drawn parallels with ranked Feast as well. Diamond Wolf, Platinum Wolf, etc. titles only need to be earned once and remain the same each season. The achievement is not unique season by season and the title is the same whether you earned it in Season 3 or Season 12.

As a Saint title holder I just want to put my 2 cents in that I don't want new titles. I don't really want to feel pressured to go after another limited title... but I may if it happens and that isn't exactly fair to those who didn't get one last time around. Keep to what you said you were going to do Square please. Same title and people who already won can't win again.

I will add my opinion to the mix as well. As one of the people that went all out and fought for a top 12 place barely sleeping, rushing back from work (yes I wasn't send home, essential worker after all), living off of fastfood cause otherwise I'd loose any chance of earning the titles. I didn't earn them both. According to Yoshi P I didn't earn them because I wasn't dedicated enough. I am utterly dissappointed that's the wording he chooses to descripe me not being able to no-life this content. I put my own life at risk and all I get is "you weren't dedicated enough to get this time limited stuff that we said would be back every week/month".

If they were to keep the titles (like they initially said they would), make it a weekly/monthly competetion (like they said they would), everyone would have a chance at being the firmanents hero. But by changing the titles each patch and only having one competetion a patch, the team is basically saying that if you weren't self-isolating in phase 2, you couldn't get these titles. I found solace in the fact that when these leaderboards would reset after the first competetion I'd have another shot, cause well another try, but also the people that got the title/achievement in the first run would not need to the second run of the leaderboards.

Yes it's a competetion, but as a lot of people also mentions, PvP has the same titles every season, you don't get locked out of getting those titles because you don't participate in a specific season. I'm not a fan of time limited content in general. It just shows you were fortunate enough to be able to put in that dedication at that specific time. Everything (titles, achievements, mounts etc.) should be available to anyone at any given time in my opinion.

Another point I wanna share is that this is an MMO, to me that means you work together on a common goal, and this sort of competetion, I've never felt more like a solo player... ever. I was egoistic, not participating in any other events in the game that I'd usually stop what I was doing to join in on. This is NOT what I want in an MMORPG. I want to see a reason to play with other people in the content that I'm presented and a ranking leaderboard as it was implemented does not make me wanna work together with anyone.

Please reuse the titles for every single leaderboard ranking ever to exist and make the leaderboard ranking more frequent.

I don't think you have to worry about not enough interest if there's no new titles. The ranking period (which I also think is too long) was only 10 days out of the 80-90 days most servers took to complete the New Nest. The vast majority of reconstruction progress was made AFTER the ranking period by dedicated crafters and new crafters using Ishgard to level up, not by the minority of people who tryharded during the rankings. If the worry is that people won't be interested in the next phase because there's no new top 12 title to grind, I don't think that's going to be a problem.

I couldn't last time due to university, but my internship is done and I don't think I'll find a job within the next 2 weeks. Therefor I plan on nolifing that title

I managed to get into the top hundred on Cerberus as a botanist, though only barely. It wasn't an enjoyable experience and I likely won't bother trying again - and when I saw what lengths the top twelve players were going to, I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up at all.

Sadly a quick google search reveals there were indeed DoL botters during the last ranking season, they seemed to be discussing how many points a day they could get and how the chances of a ban were very low. It also seems they're working on bots for the crafts. This time they know exactly how the system works and have had plenty of time to prepare in advance.

It's just made for bots really. Spam huge quantities of the same craft/gather, gaining more points the more you spam, in a game where they're extremely limited in handling player bots.

Saint DoH holder adding my two cents to the pile, hoping that this thread and others get seen.

Many people here put it much better than I ever could, but if you add new titles every season you'll be essentially be handing the Saint titles to the same group of players season after season. Hell, the last 3-5 days of the first season were torture to me, but I powered through to maintain second place and a unique crafting title aaaand with what I thought was a confirmation that I wouldn't have to do it again in the coming seasons.

Reverse course on this, Square, Keep the the same title for each season in the Firmament.
