yeah man, when i first started playing i had a totally different idea of what a gladiator should become, really wish they kept that instead of going the paladin route

I feel the same way, with the slight variation that I wish gld and pld were two distinct jobs. Pld could continue its holy/light combat aesthetic while gld is more down to earth/gritty combat (If that makes sense).
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
Yep. To me, gladiators are kind of the antithesis of a paladin. One is basically a barbarian who lives most of their lives in a cage and takes their bloodlust out on others in an arena... and the other is a noble knight fighting for a holy cause. Gladiators don't become paladins... gladiators bash paladins with a cudgel.

The gladiators in this game are closer to, but not exactly modeled after the highly trained, highly paid free type. You are right, gladiators don't in general become Paladins. You, as the warrior of light do. Basically every job that is available to a particular class is a special case.Yep. To me, gladiators are kind of the antithesis of a paladin. I would love it if combat classes were made viable as they level. Bard is more an archer than a Bard. They should let Archer become a Job and make Bard and off shoot that becomes a real Bard.

Yeah, definitely. FFT's bard was nothing like this game's bard. The gladiators in this game are closer to, but not exactly modeled after the highly trained, highly paid free type.
