even the “worst” groups only take an additional 5-6 mins.

This is what happens when multiple bad players convene. A no-DPS healer, a BLM not doing their rotations/enochian, a DRG apparently busy throwing spears half the time.

In my experience, bad play wherein the players are simply not even doing their rotations/jobs correctly tends to cause the dungeon to go for double what time should be if people were playing correctly. Instead of a 15 minute dungeon, it's routinely turning into 30 min dungeons, and occasionally 40+ minutes if there are enough bad players. I don't expect people to be playing optimally where they're counting CDs and pumping savage tier numbers, but it would be nice to see people actually giving a shit and playing their class properly and using some semblance of their combos.

If we continue to accept this behavior as normal or acceptable, we'll continue to see the above as their population grows. I'd rather not have that happen.

Yep Duty finder is totally optional in this game.

I don't know why it is as hard as not randomly opening the Jack-in-the-Box, when you need to find the 2 untrapped ones, to understand nobody cares about players being not the greatest player. We don't want lazy players who get credit for doing nothing with no intention to put any effort for the party.
You know you can prefill the party and use the duty finder with a full group right? It is assumed that we are discussing going in solo vs actually taking the time to make friends that want to play on the same level as you and not subject 3-7 other people to your whim.

Then drop the group and take your cool down to go make some friends that want to play at the same level you do.

Why don't you go and find yourself an FC where you can find *friends that want to play as the same level you do* yourself? You can even stay in the dungeon for the whole 90 minutes available.
People don't go to DF to make friends. They just want to finish this damn dungeon that they've seen 100 times and be done with it. Not everyone has time to play much. And most importantly, no one asks you to do more than carry your own weight.
"The Duty Finder is a gameplay mechanic in Final Fantasy XIV. It allows players to queue up for instanced dungeons, trials, raids, guildhests, or Player-versus-Player (PvP) content without first needing to be part of a pre-made party." It's not a tool for *finding friends*.

Is it really too much to ask of the playerbase to actually play properly or take in reasonable advice? In DF, you impose yourself on the other 3/7/23 players while acting as the bottom tier player who doesn't know their job's toolkit/undergeared. Crying "don't expect same level play" is a ploy for getting carried while doing the bare minimum. There's a reason why people condemn freestyle dpsing, curebots, and dictator tanks, and its far from expecting optimal level play.

Been playing since 2013 and you think it's fine to not want to improve? The problem with the FFXIV community is that new players and current players can't handle any amount of criticism. it's always an "attack" that you deem bullying. Because god forbid, wanting someone who is playing quote "sub-optimally" to improve their ability to preform their job is the ultimate taboo, I don't have an issue with players who dont know what their doing. the game is a learning process everyone starts from zero. however the game itself is BUILT to make players improve as they continue. Therefore you not wanting to improve or do better because you're a lazy player makes you the asshole not the person asking and telling them advice.

Don't lump all of us in with them. It's just the "casual, it's just a game. I play how I want, you don't pay my sub" group who gets all upset over being told they did something wrong.
