Last time I saw a GM it was like pulling teeth trying to get any conversation out of them. Lucky you DoctorMog lol.

Sorry. This is not really directed specifically at Arcell... just sort of general observations.

I've had a few chances to talk to reporter GMs, and the are really visiting "in character" for role playing.

If you talk with them about lore, recent Eorzean happenings, and events, then they will probably reply and stick around for as long as there is an active conversation. We had a nice long talk with Kipih the first time we saw her, and she also hung around for group pictures. ^^

I've also seen people try to ask them about updates and game information, or even mock them. They will not reply to that, and they may quickly leave the scene.

That's awesome! I love that GM's in this game really 'step into character' beyond their role as game masters. I know many MMO's have GM's that speak to you 'in character' when solving your problems, but very rarely do they appear or actually interact with the open world.

Back when I played FFXI, two of my friends were getting married ingame. The GM that was hosting it was speaking in rhymes... it seemed extremely scripted, so I assumed it was just a bot or someone pressing macros on the other end. Anyway... when the crowd was getting rowdy (talking too much, not quieting down to let the ceremony begin), I said something akin to, "Guys, be quiet. The NPC is trying to speak."

Without skipping a beat, the 'npc' emote slapped me and then said... "I AM NOT AN NPC."

Yep, I was slapped by a GM and put in my place...

This made me laugh so hard scared my cat! xD

For the record, I linked this post to Kipih (German version) when she popped on our server this afternoon and she said she was honored haha. She also followed us outside and said that our goobbue mounts were funny looking, but she hopes to get one herself some day xD.

And I missed it! *Fists of RAGE!* Oh well maybe another day/night.

if GM's would play with players sometime that would defiantly give this game something no other game has ever had. more interaction with players would be pretty cool

Yeah this GM appears on Mysida quite often in Uldah.
I've seen one speak JP and French on different occasions.
It gave me and my buddy prisms on Christmas eve lol.

We had Kipih Jakkya visit us on Saronia twice yesterday -- once in English and once in Japanese.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get her outside to see the Goobues because the Japanese conversation quickly degenerated into a pervert fest (blog link - JP)... but at least the conversation was all in-character, funny, and Kipih stuck around for at least 30 minutes.

The English visit was unfortunately very short. Her response to someone asking about her "logging in" was "Log? I'm sorry I don't know anything about woodworking." And someone else started pestering her about when SE was going to fix the PL problem, which she just completely ignored.

The reporter visits are for role-playing only.

You guys are lucky, the GMs in Cornelia never speak English, it's either German or French and they refuse to speak something else...
Total waste every time I see them.
