There are many little places where we had to walk (such as Vesper Bay, Whitebrim, Little Solace, etc) and while doing that, because the zones were so compact, we had lots of opportunities of seeing other players. Along with FATEs being the quickest way to level, that was a recipe for a healthy overworld, in my opinion... it was almost impossible to walk around and not seeing something happening.

On the opportunity of seeing other players, I was passing in Whitebrim while grinding the MSQ and saw one guy on Steropes (something that I wouldn't see/care if I was flying, btw). "Is he crazy?" I thought. So I decided to try helping him. Little I expected that I would be starting some pure ARR juice.

    And Steropes died.

Feel kinda bad for them, if they expect this stuff to continue after Heavensward...

I'm not sure how well attempts of making the overworld feel alive will work, because at this point it's quite challenging to overcome some design decisions... but I fully support the idea.

Fates should ultimately be a way to force the beast tribes to summon their primal....
The reward could just be existing beast tribe mounts but with an aura; Ifrit's would be the Firedrake with a fire aura/glow around it. Bismark's would be Sanuwa with wind + water aura on it

And since these rewards would have a timer on them that expires it'll have you coming back to fates to get it again in the future if you really want to use that mount again. And since it's existing mounts no one can complain.

I just want scenes like this that would really add dynamism to the game in real time

Ultimately this is that kind of recyclable content that would add so many points to the open world: lore (beast tribes get scared that you're doing so many fates in their habitat), easy reward with a cool touch (it could even be existing primal weapons with a bigger/different glow), etc.

The requirement would be something like completing 100 fates in the zone that primal appears.

The reward for maxing out all the Shared FATEs in all ShB zones is access to 2 new shops (one in the Chrystarium, one in Eulmore) with 5 Orchestrion scrolls, a Chocobo Barding and 7 furnishings not sold anywhere else. So there are some benefits to capping out the all zones and I would not be surprised if more stuff (such as a mount or two) was added in future patches.

Good enough way to trivialize a primal I suppose. A world boss, or zone boss would be a way to do it, but it would become like hunting parties I'd assume. If random players are doing FATEs to level they would throw off zone counters, probably lead to some "toxicity". I don't care about that, but it could be funny to see how the community would handle a concept like this.

Also, if it took like a 100 FATES (less? How fast do they even pop up, not 100 fast i'm sure lmao) probably be a once a day or twice a day thing, definitely once a log in for people, so it for sure really would be hilarious to see the community's reaction.

Hmmm, I suppose they could use a dungeon boss instead, I just like the idea of primals actually spawning in the open world. Visually it would look stunning and really bring people out.

As far as the "zerging;" no, the fate would lock to the first 20 or 30 players that join the fate. Yes, it would make it semi exclusive but with world visit it should be possible to get it in another server. Furthermore, having this happen in many zones means people would have choices. It would be interesting to see how the community would handle this since there's would be an element of uncertainty. The concept could be ironed out.

Those sort of systems kind of do exist already, but the majority of players have gotten the rewards and/or out-leveled the zone and moved on. Even time limited mounts likely would not keep things sustained for long.

That would only really work in an exploration zone like Eureka. And we do get the visually stunning spawns in the form of Odin, Prey Online (Proto-Ultima flying around blasting stuff when Prey Online appears), CoeurlRegina and Ixion. All of those currently suffer from the player base moving on from their zones.

Oh God! That wouldn't be received well AT ALL! first 20-30 players to join the FATE oooh, the fallout would be glorious to watch! They would have to do some HEAVY overhauls to make this concept pan out, and be received well. Probably would have to redesign FATEs from the ground up.

Even with world visit being a thing the sheer micro-management would be a nightmare. Aside from community reaction, they would probably have to create a "zone counter" of sorts somewhere. Even so, players would be exploiting the heck out of this, and this would in fact ruin the idea this thread put forth, having FATEs for leveling, still I don't mind seeing more rewards; more reasons to do content in the game. It's a good concept for maybe refining hunting I'd say, rather than FATEs. FATEs still would need an overhaul either way though that's for sure. What they did in ShB only brought limited interest in them.

After a certain point the majority of players have gotten all the rewards they want from a piece of content which leads to a drop in participation. Only way to really revitalize that content is to add new rewards.

That won't ever happen, there would have to be other things to strive for. They wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand. Maybe a leaderboard, or something else that is required for constant interaction - which would anger people who don't want to do them (they won't ever be able to "win" no matter what they would do though).

Wasn't arguing with you. Was actually emphasizing the quoted sentence. The Shared FATE system meant that ShB FATEs were pretty active for 5.0 and 5.1, but once a majority of players got to 80, finished maxing out Shared FATE and purchased everything they wanted from the bi-color shops participation dropped. It would take something like the bi-color gem selling tokens used in upgrading the Rebellion weapons to get the ShB zone's FATEs really active again.
