True and should they truly decide to make it instanced housing then I will praise them for it, but my very skeptical side just dont believe it.

Still the part that got completed will never be reachable for anyone that comes later and there will be people that miss out the whole thing.

Its fine if you like such kind of content but honestly I felt much better after rebuilding Doma than Ishgard. It was a nice pacing and anyone can do it no matter when they join the game. I thought that maybe they would built on that system with Ishgard, maybe making it better instead of just giving them things. Yet its nothing more than Rowena turn in..One of the big crafting content this expansion turns out to be nothing much right now.

As is the case with every single seasonal event that has been in FFXIV. The devs seem to think this will make it more valued by those who were able to do it.

Not saying it had to do with me but before seasonal items where in the cash shop, so a very long time ago, I had suggested they could more easily justify and add new items regularly to each season by allowing past items pay for the cost of development, perhaps even funding other parts of the game overtime too, and also to hopefully avoid introducing items to the cash shop first (let them be introduced into the game first). Course I feel different about consumable items in the shop but..... Yeah.. lol.

So there exists a perspective, that may have influenced the game, where the value is not it being a one time thing and that it was just free if you were paying for the game and playing at that said time. That everyone could still get said items if they really wanted it, was not meant to be exclusive content (I consistently dislike that concept of scarcity and exclusivity of content, rarity is great though). Maybe shot myself in the foot there lol, but at the same time I think if the cash shop is something they needed to have that I'd rather see seasonal items that were offered up for free to everyone first.

Most ideally there would be no cash shop and every season would have new and old items both, but... money doesn't grow on trees- else I'd have already given SE a money tree and said have fun.

Interestingly and I agree with people that some of Ishgard will remain as content even at the end, just most logically not the growth- so some pieces of Ishgard seem likely to remain for everyone but it's entirety not so much (like growth). On an aside note I did suggest early on a sort of history book that let you revisit the stages, just for the fun, curiosity, and memory (just loading in the zone to see the stages as they were, in a sort of magical book memory format).

I really enjoyed Doma Reconstruction too, so I personally hope they do that again- and I think it'd be neat if they could tie it in more to the core game next time. Not that you have to ace complete it to progress MSQ or something but like it might be paid more mind next time (a bit like how Ishgard was obviously paid more mind than our standard "this is the area that's going to change for this expansion" like Mor Dhona and other hubs did). I'd encourage hybrid systems too since it could spur the economy and maybe have some side competition stuff even if a bit silly (/bot infested), get different types of players together, but hybrid in that the server determines the max growth and personal determines the actual stage. Of course they can continue to do their uncontrollable thing per expansion, just not my preference so I'm not going to cheer as much for that (I still like growth, things changing is fun)- like I might not cheer for ultimate but doesn't mean I hate that it exists.

I feel the same way, i like that were diversifying some of competition stuff is important. Ill never be able, or want to, compete in ultimate clears. And i like the idea that the part I focus on (crafting and gathering) has a little competition in it. It makes me feel good that i might get something exclusive if i can work hard in crafting. Cause im never getting those exclusive wep skins from ultimate lol

Those progessions however were not associated with any kind of event though. Ishgard restoration was designed for us to have involvement in. I would have liked to seen how each of those areas looked originally but they wernt connected to anykind of progession that was supposed to involve everyone, ishgard is supposed to involve people who participate.

It has involved the players who chose to participate at the time construction was in progress.

This is not a construction stage right now. This is a preparation stage, as the NPCs will tell you if you talk to them. They're deciding what to work on next and what supplies will be needed. What we're currently turning in now is for maintenance of what's already been completed.

Once they're ready to start on the next section (5.3x), we'll start with a stockpile stage turning in more gathered and crafted materials specific to the new area being constructed. Once the stockpile is complete, we'll have another construction stage - the FATE - then it will repeat until the new section is completed. A new preparation phase will begin and we'll be back to turning in stuff while we wait for the 5.4x content to be released.

People show up to participate when it's ready to start or they don't, just as on a real life construction site workers show up to build when the superintendent or foreman says its time to build. If they don't show up at the right time, they don't help build that part of the construction.

If you really want to see what those areas looked like during the earlier stages of construction, there's always YouTube. That's how I've watched events in other games that I missed out on.

And people are not happy with that either. In the case of the seasonal events its not even to make it more valued (which honestly is a bit strange since its mostly one short quest anyway) but to sell more things on the mog station. Before they went in the shop we got events with old items.

WoW's Cataclysm and GW2's first Living Story are definitely a testament to large scale world changes. While both had their fans they've been derided and reviled and held up as "things not to do". At least not in themepark style MMO's. ArenaNet dropped the idea and never looked back.

OTOH that's exactly what sandbox style games are supposed to be all about. Sadly most sandbox developers can't seem to get past survival mechanics and forced PvP.

The only reason I bothered with it this time around was the cosmetic rewards (mounts, minions, emotes, etc), and because Gunmetal Black dye became a thing. Somehow I ended up in the top 100 gatherer ranking as BTN so I got a title too. All of that plus the potential gil to be made at the time made it worth doing for me, and I would do it again too if more rewards are added that I'd want. I wouldn't say it was terrible content, but it was certainly mindless. Mindless is better than terrible, imo, because that makes it at least tolerable.

It just feels bad that there is a story attached to it and not around the player's individual contributions that overly thanks the PC for things we didn't even do because it's achiever focused gates out a lot of people that work 9-5
