It's not "punishment" it's resource management.
Or are you going to complain about TBN costing MP too?
Without any kind of draw back, LD would be unequivocally the best invuln in the game.
It's basically a Holmgang with an up to 10s buffer.
My suggestion would have the same effect as LD, but give you the ability to mitigate the drawback.
Mitigate the drawback by losing the MP required for another Mitigate aka TBN. Hmmm....It's not "punishment" it's resource management.

Currently LD problem is it took too much resources but then you want us to lose the resources more.

Which is better than dying...
Plus you'll likely have already used TBN before LD, otherwise why are you using LD when you could have used TBN instead?
GNBs has a cost too, all their HP. Is that "punishment"?
I don't think you understand just how much you lose when you die.
You lose all of your MP anyway...
A cost? which they don't have to pay by themselves because healer will be the one healing them and it only required for GNB to not dying to the upcoming auto attack and that's different than what the current LD is.

So then why does your proposed "fix" still have a 50% healing requirement instead of 100%?
That's still a cost, they still die if that 50% healing isn't met.
You're not fixing the problem, why are you only advocating for a half-fix if the idea of any cost is wrong?
