At this point I consider aggro wars as a coveted feature of the game. I wish I could say it's fun to sit back and watch.

) second boss has moments of no tanking. due to going berserk after soul stone is brokelv 50 omnicrafter black mage using lvl 8 healer gear. lv 52 war not knowing how to spam lv 10 aoe and turns me as drg into tank during second boss. healer didn't rage quit like i almost did when the tank kept using tomahawk on olmec almost killing it off the plate twice. and of course this was on leveling and i waited twenty minutes because dps curse. shockingly they knew how to solve the puzzle at the end.
christ.
edit: forgot the next best ring isn't until 39.
Hello, nice to meet you!
FF14 player as of: 6/3/2020.
Platform: Ps4
So many thoughts and opinions. Im gonna focus on one. "i'm thinking to leave or not lol" "i'm so lazy to tank" should probly be too lazy. You correctly ask why that wasnt a consideration before queing. And their response was "it's randome". Ok. So let me make sure i have this right. They qued expert? There are two choices, thats barely random at all. Were they going to actually tank if they got cosmos? And why would Annyder be the place that makes you lazy? After you get off the island the entire dungeon is complete in 3 escalating pulls if you do it right. Much nicer then all the forced walls and tiny battles in Cosmos. I dont always report the sketchy stuff that happens around me, i for sure would have about this troll.
Rolled into Titan NM for leveling roulette last name on an alt's WHM. Tank was new, fresh Pally, we gave him the usual spiel. Don't stand in landslide, avoid ick, stand out of the middle when he jumps, blah blah blah.
Well, he stood too close to the edge and fell. And naturally, Titan beelines for me and I immediately get tankbustered. Heal and start swapping between Aero, Stone and drilling a Cure II on myself to survive. Did fine, nobody else died. Felt really bad that that was his first experience with Titan, that his WHM ended up tanking instead. You're not a bad tank, little Paladin; we should've explained better, but I genuinely couldn't even remember what was in Normal.

Honestly, in Alliance roulette aggro wars are a lot of fun, but you stand in the same spot so that the rest of the alliance aren't hindered by your little competition.
That's if the other tanks stand in the same spot. I don't bother with tank stance unless I ABSOLUTELY need to put it on(MT taken into a mechanic they can't avoid, other tanks dying, etc). If neither of the other tanks have their stance on when the run begins, I will put mine on at the first enemies, and if one of them decides to provoke a boss off me...my stance drops and I let them take it. I don't have time to be wasting with aggro wars.
If, indeed and that's usually when I have to join in on the circus ride as I'll try to direct tankbusters..at me/tanks..
This talk of aggro wars has me thinking of a fun nier run I had a while ago... I was tanking, but didn't feel like dealing with aggro wars so just let somebody else handle it - they seemed eager enough to, so I kept stance off til I needed to pick up adds or at least until they had a solid lead.
Of course, the fun was with this one black mage in another alliance who probably outgeared and outdamaged veryone else in the entire alliance... and rather than aggro issues, the other two tanks issues were with staying alive at all.
So naturally the MT died several times throughout the dungeon, and every single time the boss would look to the BLM... and every time they'd get fairly quickly picked up by me or the other tank, but also every time the boss so much as glanced in this BLM's direction they'd instantly be like "why do I have aggro?" in the chat. Every time. First boss, I was like ok, my b, I didn't realize the tank got instanuked so it took me a second to grab the boss. But this guy didn't die and in the time it took him to type that sentence I already had the boss.
Last boss rolls around, and we're on the exploding tank part... One tank dies, I end up as MT. Then I die due to an unfortunately timed lack of healing. So of course when the boss is back he... goes for the BLM. Who of course immediately complains about it, evidently not realizing it was because 2/3 tanks had died, I'd literally just been ressed, and I'm pretty sure tank 3 was on the other side of the map still (and I'm actually pretty sure he died too at least once in that mess...)
And did he die? No. Once again, as soon as one of us was alive and in range, the boss was off him. He just REALLY had to complain about it. Immediately.

Lots of time to type with 3 second cast times and no oGCDs.
Ah but BLMs have a tank stance. Its called Manaward. A good BLM should not be surprised to be 2-3 on the aggro list at any given moment. The fact that the bossnmakes a beeline shoukd really just be instant gratification (and that moment you pop all your CDs--manaward, addle, triplecast etc) and their cue to KILL IT FASTER.This talk of aggro wars has me thinking of a fun nier run I had a while ago... In short, a good BLM should already know how to tank in the few seconds before someone can pick it up because being the next in line should be a given. Less talking and more burning. XD
