What do you guys think is the cause of severe lack of Tank users?

I never had issues either, but this isn't a point about my tanking ability, this is a point about tanking in general. This means you have to take into account all tanks of different abilities and different gear levels compared to DPS. There was many a time when I could out aggro a tank in tank stance on my monk, why? gear levels, and yes, this accounts for Diversion as well.

Again, the point is, you should not have to change what you do as a tank based on your own gear level compared to your party. especially since you don't know the skill of the DPS either. They could be an average DPS or they could be a top tier raider, both would have to be dealt with differently with a lower geared tank.

So I pose the question again. If you can come up with a system that doesn't completely mess with a tanks rotation and how it flows and doesn't depend on the gear levels of the tanks compared to DPS, I would like to hear it. And just to clarify, 'just get good' isn't a valid point. If DPS can get away with being average (which I have no problems with FYI), then the system should allow an average tank to also perform their job well.

No. What you are saying is times where a Tank didn't hit the add with thier AoEs, generally some mob off of the group. This coming from a tank during that time, it was never gear, it was me not hitting the darn add. It happens, doesn't mean anyone is crap or the system has issues, just someone's aim (for WAR) or mob positioning.

I dunno about their data center, but the roulettes on mine are more and more frequently saying "healers in need," and "DPS in need."
Most of my FC has started tanking in this expansion.
OP (or anyone else), can you support the claim that there IS a severe lack of tanks right now?

considering the general state of healers being worse it's more easy to see "healers in need" they literaly hate the role right now and "dps in need" it's always a reality on 24 man roulettes since ever so yeah i consider we are still lacking tanks, both non-dps roles are the least fun to play by a far margin and the amount of new tanks could be practically comparable to the amount number of veterans tanks stop tanking or just do it on savage only, i saw many new tanks too but at the same time i saw many friends and fc mebers stop tanking and moving to the dps role.

keep in mind different data centers and different servers, it also depends on how many new players have come in or how many players have reached the stage of i want to level all jobs. In my datacenter tank in need is the default and i do have an easier time to find healers in party finder.

I know, I'm in your datacenter too and I see that tanks are almost always the role in need, I know bcs im leveling AST right now and mostly wait to see if I get the bonus of leveling and get them after several reloads of the duty finder ^^.

DPS queues didn't really change this expansion so yeah the amount of tanks out there it's roughly the same, the thing is I was saying the changes on healers make the role pretty undesirable for many and now both roles are competing about which one is the least played now, on some data centers are healers on others are tanks.

On resume for the tanks you can feel there is more tanks around bcs DRK poster boy and gunblades but the changes on the role affected the veterans so there is no real changes on his population despite new ppl getting in to it

So there is a lack of tanks? Yes as usual like in every game that have a Trinity system, just right now we are in a weird position where the population is moving but not really growing.

This thread just seems to be "Let's just assume that there is, then work backwards from there to try and explain why there might be a problem."
Which is too bad because it's seems to have turned the convo into just complaining about tanks, which both isn't constructive and is unfortunate because I like the way tanks work in ShB.

Firstly there has always been a need for more tanks and healers, Compared to dps
Secondly we know that alot of tank players have quit whether it is cause we had friends who simply quit or from raid groups
Thirdly there is a massive outcry from tanks and healers as well as some dps classes, it is safe to assume that some people did quit or changed role/class
obviously the exact number its unknown but it most certaintly isnt something that doesnt exist.
People see different things depending the datacenter ofc and there is also different wants depending on if youre in american servers european servers or chinese servers , something the devs touched upon during BA and how all 3 had a different opinion. This time though All servers are asking that they do something about it, the only thing that differs is how they want to approach things, for more info look at the thread and any other thread you can find. Or if you cant be bothered ask around while you play the game.

Yeah, it's from reddit and not SQEX itself, but it IS an impressive amount of data and I can't find anything from SQEX itself.
It seemed to me like there was just a vocal minority complaining on the forums... Which is where people go to complain.
I thought someone had data to the contrary.
