The armoire is now in a pretty sad state. It is that kind of ARR feature that just did not end up well and are now just... useless / broken.

While you're correct that not every AF was gained through special currencies, the lvl 60/HW AF was first added to the Centurio Seal vendor, before being added as a quest reward to the lvl 60 job quests in SB.Minor correction, not all are gained through alt currencies, only the HW ones did that iirc [looking at the wiki now shows that completing the job quests gives the armor as well], the 70 is given by a quest, the 80 is given for free, both 45-50 and the 50 sets are given for doing your classes jobs quests. So if they are concerned about a bug permanently deleting the item, why would they let us put all the event armors that are limited time access in there? that makes less sense than allowing the easily re-purchasable armor in there.
Not sure what you mean with allowing easily re-purchasable armor in there, though. None of the AF sets past the very first one can be stored in the armoire.
The armoire is something of a relic of the 1.0 game, with it having some kind of limit on the amount of things that can be stored/shown at the same time. I remember reading that the addition of the Yo-kai weapons caused a few bugs, before they changed the armoire to have multiple tabs.
It was already around before ARR.
Yes but it had very little utility upgrade since then. Its sole purpose was to store "special" stuff that we did not really have retainers/inventory for but the game liked to throw at us.
I can't recall the last time I could store something new there. Why can't the latest job items fit there when 2.0 ones could?

New seasonal event gear can be stored in the Armoire. If you put your Valentione's set and Rabbit suits from this year's events into your glamour dresser, do yourself a favor and move them to the Armoire to free up space in the dresser.
The reason new job gear can't go in the Armoire is data storage limitations. It was never designed to expand to hold multiple expansions' worth of artifact gear for an increasing number of jobs. You're not talking about an insignificant number of items considering there are now 18 jobs in the game.
Job gear is easy enough to re-obtain now if you later decide you want to use a piece for glamour. You've got the Calamity Salvager for level 50 and 70 gear, Centurio Seals for level 60 gear and Grenoldt for level 80. Discard the pieces you aren't actively using for glamour to save room for those pieces that you are using. If you later decide you want to use it, buy them again at that time.
I'm just saying that it wasn't really an ARR feature, it was a 1.0 feature, likely with code that's a mess to deal with.
New event items can usually be put in the armoire. The reason why job items can't be put in there, outside of the 2.0 ones, is because they've been working on making it easier to reobtain said job items, at least when it comes to the armor sets. Especially with the lvl 70 AF being available from the Calamity Salvager at 1k gil per piece, or the lvl 80 AF being freely obtainable off the vendor related to it.Originally Posted by Hysterior
