Minor correction, not all are gained through alt currencies, only the HW ones did that iirc [looking at the wiki now shows that completing the job quests gives the armor as well], the 70 is given by a quest, the 80 is given for free, both 45-50 and the 50 sets are given for doing your classes jobs quests. So if they are concerned about a bug permanently deleting the item, why would they let us put all the event armors that are limited time access in there? that makes less sense than allowing the easily re-purchasable armor in there.
SE are concerned again about bugs causing problems, so they're very carefully making tweaks and changes to it gradually. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done except have patience.
I understand making incremental changes in hopes to get to an end result without so many complications, that's a natural way to want to handle a currently implemented system, but to my knowledge they have made no statements about adjusting or working on the issue i raised. Lack of transparency is the main problem, I would gladly accept them saying something to the effect "hey, we're trying some things, not sure if they'll work out or even make it into the game, but we hear your feedback and are looking into it" because then, at the least, they have realized there are comments about the system and are interested in giving players what they want.

Also, they just added more space to the dresser, i cant see how allowing more storage could lead to a problem.
