I think an "open world" pvp zone like an open area in wolves den pier would be nice. In WoW, there used to be arenas out in the open world where, if you jumped inside, you would be flagged for pvp. It would be a total free for all, I'm not sure if parties were allowed but tbh I would not be against it. It doesn't have to be a perfectly balanced side activity, just something to do on the side. It would be great to just hop in for some casual pvp while still being able to chat or waiting for queue times etc.

People have this same crazy dream of an idea over and over and it never turns out well. I don't think there's a single game in this mmo style that has ever done it well.

Open world PVP means unbalanced teams and the larger team always wins. So you can either recruit more players or give up for the evening. Hope you enjoy spending two or three hours teleporting to different city player hubs and texting people to come play the open world pvp when everyone knows it's frustrating and doesn't want to do it.

The result is usually a short time period where lame gank squads roam the open world pvp area picking off solo players exploring the area, followed shortly by it becoming a ghost town and failed game mode. Seriously, that happens basically every single time in every single game.

Thus developers are foolish if they waste any time on it at all. Eventually maybe somebody else will figure it out and then it can be copied without much time and effort, but lots of companies have failed at trying to make this kind of game play good. We already have 24 person team Frontline matches which are so so much better than open world Warhammer ever was. Warhammer would have died within the first few months if it hadn't come up with having instanced, balanced matches. Realm vs realm was never that good. The first faction to take the enemy Capital city did it by organizing a group of people to do it at like 2 in the morning, it was BS.
