I main Samurai, but obviously you can't start Samurai unless you cheat with a potion. But, anyway, I switched from Bard to Samurai, and there's a full hotbar of skills.

So, I deleted all the skills and just started putting them in rotation-order, so I could press 1-2-3 and figure out the mechanics as we go along and obviously, so I could read the skills and figure out how they synergise.

I must have played about five or so levels with Samurai before I clicked that I had completely forgotten to put Yukikaze on the hotbar... So all this time I was hitting Higanbana and Tenko, thinking that Midaire must unlock at level 60 or something cos I couldn't get the third sen to pop. Oh my word, I felt like a right muppet when I realised this mistake. >_>

I started playing a few months before HW launched and up until a few months ago I had no idea you could use a main cities big aetheryte to teleport to differen't locations in the city. I had always just ran to the nearest smaller aetheryte to teleport to wherever I was trying to go. It was hard for me to type this due to how embarassing this is to admit.

I really struggled with Construct 7. Not because I couldn't do basic math, but because i thought it was multiplication and division, rather than just addition.

I was a Dragoon in caster gear back when I first started. Wore the hooded robe and thought I looked cool. Also because it told me my DEF increased!

First dungeon I ever ran, I immediately starting running ahead. I pulled every enemy I could; Piercing Talon was my best friend. I had no idea what the hell I was doing.

Dashed-lines that tell me that a move is a combo? What is that?! I ain't touching that.

You got potions? Use them all!

Don't feel bad, I did the exact same thing when I first started. As long as my ATK and DEF went up I thought that was the gear I was supposed to wear.

It's not surprising, it's not a well known word, although it appeared also in FFXI frequently. What is surprising is that it's actually a real-world material.

Another embarrasing confession of mine: when I started levelling MRD/WAR I went for ages without Overpower in my hotbar, including dungeon runs that naturally I struggled to keep hate in. Not surprisingly, people kept telling me to "use OP!" and I just looked at them blankly wondering what the hell they were talking about. Turns out until that point every time a new ability was learned it automatically appeared in the hotbar, except Overpower. Sheepishly I manually added it into the hotbar and from then on things naturally improved. I felt like such a n00b.

I started playing in 1.XX and it was similar to FFXI, which I had played for years before. I quit 1.XX cause neither my desktop nor laptop at the time could run it. Desktop couldn't run it at all (AMD Athlon 2800+, Geforce 7600GS AGP, 1GB DDR1 RAM), and laptop couldn't run for more than 10 minutes before overheating (I got to level 6 lol).

2.0 comes round, and some friends I played FFXI with join cause they knew 2.0 will be good. We continued to play FFXIV like FFXI until level 28ish when a friend one of the others made did Haukke Manor with us and was like "wtf are you guys doing". We were a gladiator, archer (me), and thaumaturge. Thaumaturge was sleeping everything cause things got pulled in groups. Tank was focusing one at a time (not flashing or anything), and I was trying to kite things that woke up... Yeah lol.

I didn’t properly use my SAM aoe rotation until the middle of stormblood so I’d just spam Oka and Mangetsu instead of using Fuga first. Also didn’t know SAM had a Dot until Lv60s

Oh! And I thought wildfire was a dot and didn’t learn what it was until I noticed the damage was really small and read the skills.
