I do not want a reskinned CNJ(hi Geomancer
It would be a bit weird to see them implemented as healers, since Geomancers have always been terrain-based damage dealers, generally using Staves, Axes or Bells as a weapon (And are the only advanced class in games they use those last two weapons who can use those weapons).

Though 14 does like to change established classes for... reasons.

How would Chemist animations work I wonder?
Probably inspired by Tactics. They literally throw potions across the battlefield.

Sounds cool but would that really work without looking too ridiculous? I definitely wouldn't mind going into "cartoonish" absurdity but don't see them taking too much liberty doing that since FFXIV generally looks sort of realistic. It's difficult for me to imagine in my head for them to be throwing potions in FFXIV without it looking kinda funny lol.

Because a Non-Caster Type of Healer would be really cool and interesting.
Plus IF 6.0 brings us to Garlameld, then it would make perfect sense to introduce a new Job like that. All of us Healer Mains want/NEED a new Healer, and something like a Chemist would shake things up and give us something new to play; and in more ways then one.

You didnt miss anything In-Game, or in any interview. The Chemist hype was organically generated from Discussions about possible new jobs. Especally talks about what would make a good new healer.

I'm in the camp we'll only get one new job from now on since they've largely hit all the popular ones. With that in mind, it would be idiotic not to release a healer in 6.0. So that severely limits their options. Personally, I find Geomancer too similar to what we already have whereas Chemist would be the first non-magical based healer that could possibly open up role variety which is sorely lacking with healers at the moment.

I've always held a candle for consumables-based classes in RPGs, where your level of power is all about what you can make and how much of it you can carry. Sadly the whole paradigm is pretty anemic even in the titles where it's present, and usually isn't viable for anything past the early-mid game.

Theres always the hybrid of Tactics and 5's Oracle that has basically the exact number of abilities to be a viable shell:

    Damage Abilities:
    Brimstone - Single Target DD
    Black Frost - DoT
    Judgement - AE

    Healing Spells:
Rejuvenation - Long duration Regen [90+ seconds] with low potency per tick
Recuperation - short duration [6 seconds] regen with incredibly high potency per tick
Healing Wind - Moderate duration group HoT [medica 2 potency regen over 45 seconds]
Harmonic Blessing - group long duration [90+ seconds], low potency regen

    Abilities:
Life Drain - moderate cooldown, damages target, applies a short duration regen on group
Belief/Faith - long cooldown, targeted party member magic damage buff
Disbelief/DeFaith - long cooldown, 'healer addle', lowers target enemy damage output by 10% for a short duration
Empowerment/Brave - long cooldown, targeted party member physical damage buff
Trepidation/DeBrave - long cooldown, 'healer rampart', lowers targets single-target damage by 25% for a short duration

Induration - Moderate cooldown, target takes 90% less damage, sets their threat to 0 for the duration
Manafont - Ground spawn bubble, increases healing effects and mana regeneration those standing in it by 15%

Crystal Surges - Channels healing energy into a target, healing them each second the channel is maintained, and causing damage to any enemies who strike them in combat.

IMO they should embrace the unorthodox behaviour. MMOs usually have at least one class that is a little bit more cute, silly, entertaining, dubious, etc. All of our jobs right now are way too serious, and actually not a good reflection of the series at large.

Worth noting is we technically do have a goofy job already; the Blue Mage. It's a limited job so it doesn't quite scratch the itch, but at least it has demonstrated how silly stuff can be a welcome addition to the battlefield. Because really; throwing potions at people to juice them up or heal them is nowhere near as absurd as half of the moves BLU has.

One idea would be just to distribute medication using magitech bits and IV injections with mixing being required to restore and modify it's stocks of potions that could be represented by some gauges and stacks. Maybe like having multiple mixers, and like a having them increase as the equipment is being developed by the quest NPC

Out of all of the Final Fantasy classes that have not been put into the game yet, chemist makes the most sense for a new healer. I can't really think of a single Final Fantasy class that could be used as a healer that isn't already in use(basically white mage) that would make for a good healer other than chemist.
