New Treasure Trove Rewards: why Ixion?

There was nothing hard or challenging about obtaining the mount. They obviously put Ixion in the trove because hardly anyone does Ixion anymore since It's old content. There's nothing wrong with them adding it to the trove for newer players to obtain.

The "hardest" thing about Ixion was being on when it spawned and then not being DC'd by the amount of people around it or locked out of the instance because it became overloaded. The fate itself was inconsequential.

The hilarious thing to me is when i saw them post the loot list I immediately thought to myself "huh.. all those people who complained about the ixion congestion are probably gonna complain about how easy it is to get now.. "

Rant: I get it, you think we all want stuff handed to us to want to play the game. So, you have taken a lot of the "challenge" away in the process. Now .. i see you have made it pointless to run hard content for special rewards. I am a bit upset with the Treasure trove this time around. The whole point of some of this stuff is to be a challenge and to be a special thing once you accomplish a goal. But now.. run a few pracs and you got yourself an Ixion. Something that was very hard and time consuming to get and once you did you could puff out your chest and say YEAH I DID THAT! Now .. why bother. I get that you want everyone to have a chance, but when you remove the challenge this game becomes like all the rest.. nothing but a grind.. so.. why bother... Fix the bloat.. yes.. fix the redundancy sure.. but do not give away things that people took so much effort to get and just hand it out to everyone like it was nothing. If you continue to do that, then what is the point of adding new things.. just start giving the harder stuff away and we can all just grind fates to 80 from now on and find another MMO worth sinking our money into.

There is no "challenge" in obtaining Ixion OP. You win the "i'm online when the hunt linkshell calls it out when it spawns" lottery that's it literally. It's not particularly hard to beat nor obtain otherwise.

Yeah ixion fight isnt that difficult, the "hard" part is catching it on time, but back in SB they had to add instances cause folks would flood and lock out the area so people doing story couldn't even get in. This also made it a bit easier to get mount cause there was 3 chances of it showing up and usually only a few hours between each instance too.

Since I never manage to be online when the Ixion fate is up I am quite happy that they added the Ixion mount to the treasure trove event. I have only seen the Ixion fate exactly once so far lol And I have to agree that the fate itself is not very difficult. I would be more upset should they add 1.0 exclusive stuff or ranked pvp rewards.

Ixion was never any harder than a Notorious Monster in Eureka (aka, not hard whatsoever). You just threw bodies at him until he died. While fun back when Stormblood released, most people interested in bothering with Ixion have long got the mount. I had it in the first or second week, then promptly never touched Ixion again except on the rare occasion a friend mentioned he was up and they didn't have the mount yet.

Old Primals also fall into the same category. When you can duo Susano, his mount doesn't mean much anymore.

How many people even still do it? I think I've seen the fate called in my linkshells like 3 times total since ShB started

Totally opinion here but the mount is ugly as sin anyway. Love the furniture item tho

I agree on finding the mount ugly. It's very oddly proportioned.

I find most of the rare FATE rewards a bit underwhelming though. Odin's armour, Couerlregina's tacky leopard-print jacket, the novelty frog suit...

The Ultima Horns seem to have been skipped over entirely, though. That FATE is rarer than Couerlregina and there aren't any early phases that give tokens.

That said, I also think all the primal mounts shouldn't be on the menu. What they should do instead is just increase the mount drop rates for older expansions.

They have. Ponies drop more then 10% of the time(seriously, i see one every week or two just soloing for khloe). Birbs arent nearly as rare as they were. My last doggo farm had 4 drop in under 20 pulls. The only one ive done recently(no, i havent done all of them recently) that was still super rare was Rathalos(im 10 scales from buying it, not a single drop yet).

I am aware of the pony drop rate increase (they publicly announced that one). They haven't for the Stormblood's to my knowledge. I just farmed them all and their drop rates still seem abysmally low. I had to purchase 3 of them for 99 totems and it was largely due to lack of drops. The rest I typically got from between my 30th and 60th totems, excluding Emanation which does seem to have a high drop rate (or perhaps it's just that she dies in 2 minutes). Seiryu, for example, I saw maybe 4 drop throughout the first 68, then I saw 0 drops until my 98th (and then again on my 99th of course). I've met a lot of others that don't see dogs drop very much either and met many others having to buy dogs with 99 totems. Rathalos I saw 1 drop in 70ish kills, also this year.
