either way, as you seem to have taken a liking to mch that obviously is fine too, its a great pick for consistent performance and also the strongest physical ranged right now (speedrunning not withstanding), also at level 80 it can call upon a kickass robot to fight at its side so thats a bonus .

in the end the most important is finding what YOU find fun so as a bard at heart i can only wish you godspeed on the road of the machine.

I'm doing 15h days already lol. Good thing time is what I have right now, so making the most of it!

I still think bard has the most kickass weapons in the entire game and skills animations are one of the best! But in terms of playstyle I'll stick with MCH for now. Thanks for the support!

I am leveling a bard right now, been thinking to switch to a machinist as it seems like it could be easier to play. As I'm not sure I dig songs + dots management, esp in AOE situations I get quite stressed already. Would machinist be more fun with almost as good DPS as meta jobs if executed properly? I have a very low ping.

I've read a lot on the forum already, watched a lot of Youtube videos. And seen that all content can be cleared with all the classes... Which is great, but it really bothers me to see that tanks sometimes deal more DPS than I do in the instanced content... Especially on the single target. And no matter how hard I do my rotations (get quite stressed trying really hard) and barely beat a tank, sometimes below. No way I can compete with summoners or samurai. Sad. Will bard dps increase as I continue to level or should I drop and switch to machinist?

I know I could reach end content with either of the classes and I can get into parties anyway but being a bottom of the barrel every time is not cool and makes me not like the game so much. Sad, as otherwise I really love the game. I'm feeling like I'm being pushed onto the melee side if I want to deal good physical DPS. Spellcasters never interest me. So here we are...

Ultimately, I'm thinking if it's worth continuing with the bard or level machinist or force a melee class on myself. I don't want to find another mmo, not yet anyway lol.

    What are your thoughts?
Uuuuh, tanks shouldn't be dealing more damage than you unless you don't know what you are doing as said DPS or dying alot. The difference between a tank that is at the top and just a mediocre ranged dps is about 5k dps which is about 33% difference. Which is fine. Ranged DPS are however, underperforming when it comes to DPS numbers when teams are considering double caster over a physical ranged. DNC at least provides solid dps and buffs to warrent usage, and MCH just barely is hitting DPS that makes people okay with running one, but they don't provide any utility or raid wide DPS increase at all (anymore). Then there is BRD, BRD might provide some party support, but their damage is just so darn bad that teams don't want to run bards anymore. They kinda... killed BRD this expansion.
However, saying Tanks are getting close to physical ranged dps is o incorrect its baffling. I am a top 5% GNB and I am still 4-5k behind the DNC in my raid and they are a green parsing DNC, meanwhile Healers can out DPS tanks....

What's true at max level may not be for a beginner under lvl 50, probably not decently geared, with a tank at max level and decently geared, in a dungeon.

    Very relevant to the discussion

I wonder what is the dps gap between a sync tanked and a naked dancer in sastasha .
Here number could bring some valuable insight on the current tank/ranged balance in savage encounter at lv 80

    ..oh.

    Actual title: Bard Job...disappointing?

I dont play DNC anymore, nothing more to prove with that job. No one cares about RDM and it's not a bandwagon job...almost regret having left it on the back burner, but back at it and has reclaimed its place as my main DPS job.

I like DNC because it's a fun job - has the style and has the procs, has some basic healing / shielding / buff abilities. The storyline itself makes it fun to have multiple dancers in a party because it just looks really nice and has tons of AoE control.

Running double dancer <lv 76 dungeons with lots of trash mobs is imo the best (only because of espirit with double dancer having an issue). If Tech Step was a stackable effect like the storyline quest, it would be really good. Unfortunately, game balance says no and I heard they were going to take steps to remove having duplicate classes in next patch, so that's a bit of a shame.

You might be the only person who prefers a multi-dancer comp. I love this job so much, but I hate seeing another dancer in my party. All it does it greatly disrupt both of our rotations since we have to constantly watch for the other using tech step/Devilment and make sure we're not overlapping. Normally I just wait till after they burn both to start mine, but then it gets messy once they inevitably wait too long and fall off their timing, which happens quite often.
