    Unacceptable Housing Situation

    Hi,

I've been playing FFXIV since 1.0 - for many years (see my join date). I have had a small personal house for as many years as is possible.

Due to the Virus situation, I had to stop payment on my account for a couple of months. Now I return to find not only is my house gone (this is not a surprise, I figured it would be gone) but ALL my belongings that I worked so hard for over these many years are completely gone.

That is years worth of special events and furnishings, posters, you name it. Gone without (apparently) any hope of recovery. This makes me want to cancel my account for good.

I can't believe this is how long-time customers are treated. I am very disappointed.

    Thank you,

    White

Any furnishings that were in the house when it was auto-demolished are sent to a special storage npc for a certain length of time (another 30 days I think it is) where you can collect them (they're found at the estate caretaker area in each residential area). But if you fail to collect it after that time sadly it's then lost forever.

Although the housing system does need improving, this has been how it is since the housing system was first implemented, meaning the information was available right from the start back in late 2013, and would have been when you got your house, and has been consistant since. I'm sorry, it's unfortunate you lost your house (especially so due to the pandemic situation), but it is your responsibility to be aware of the terms of the housing system in the first place, and so accept those terms when you get a house. Again, I'm sorry to hear you lost your house, but it's really on you to be aware of the limitations.

idk how long you have been unsubbed, but its been more than a couple months. Housing demo has been shut off since March 26th and it takes 45 days for it to reclaim, so at the earliest that is the beginning of February.

You should have also gotten at least a few emails telling you this was going to happen, time limits you have to claim items, etc

I'm surprised a long-time customer doesn't know how housing works. Demolition and the limited item reclamation period have been part of the game since Heavensward.

Long term customers aren't entitled to special treatment. They get treated the same as any other customer.

Honestly, don't bring the virus into it as your reason you stopped paying your sub and playing the game. The timing is wrong. For your house to demo, you would have had to stop playing before mid February. Businesses didn't start slowing down or ceasing operations until start of March.

I had to agree with @Jojoya. The only thing i do not understand is why OP didnt collect all the items from the house before stopped with payment. If he/she didnt urgently go to hospital there is no excuse why the items are left in the house. I can hardly imagine a scenario where the game is expiring but you didnt know until the last second you are not going to renew the subscription.

Not SE's fault at all. Read your e-mail. Bragging how long you've been playing, yet you know so little.

Really sorry, but what happened to you is normal. You should've expected it.

    Reclamation of Inactive Housing

To ensure that plots of land are not claimed and left unused, estates not accessed for extended periods of time will be automatically demolished, and the plots of land will be put back up for sale.
    Estates Subject to Demolishing
Free company housing that has not been accessed by at least one member within forty-five days.
Private housing that has not been accessed by the owner within forty-five days.
Purchased plots of land upon which an estate has not been built within forty-five days.

    * The count for days of inactivity will begin on the release of patch 3.1.

    Steps Prior to Demolishing
    Thirty days of inactivity
A notification indicating that the estate is being prepared for auto-demolition will appear in the Timers interface in the Duty tab of the Main Menu.

    Thirty-five days of inactivity
An e-mail will be delivered to the registered e-mail addresses of all free company members, or the owner of a private estate, indicating the estate is being prepared for auto-demolition.

    Forty-two days of inactivity
An e-mail will be delivered to the registered e-mail addresses of all free company members, or the owner of a private estate, indicating that the estate will be demolished automatically in three days.

    Forty-five days of inactivity
The estate will be automatically demolished.

    Halting Demolition
Any free company member or private housing owner entering the estate at any time prior to demolition will cancel the demolition process.

    After Demolition
When an estate has been demolished, or the rights to an empty plot have been relinquished, said plot will be made available for purchase to all players on that World. The price will decrease every six hours from the time at which it is made available for purchase.

    Reclaiming Gil and Items
When an estate has been demolished, gil and certain furnishings will be placed in the care of the resident caretaker for a fixed period of time.

    Redeemable from the Resident Caretaker
80% of the price paid for the estate grounds.
Indoor and outdoor furnishings that are not destroyed upon removal.

Not Redeemable from the Resident Caretaker
The construction permit required to build an estate.
    Furnishings destroyed upon removal.
    Housing exteriors.
    Private chambers.
Company workshops and any registered airships in the workshop.

    * Players will have thirty-five days to redeem items from the resident caretaker before they are made irredeemable. Items belonging to a free company estate can only be retrieved by members with the authorization to purchase or relinquish land. Items belonging to a private estate can only be retrieved by the owner.
