Yeah, I really don't understand how Yoship approved that. Relic is casual heaven, why lock casual content behind raiding/hardcore stuff?

The Idealized gear is unlikely to be the only way we get dyeable AF4 gear. There will likely be an unweathering step added in the future that will give dyeable AF4 with 2 materia slots. The EX and Idealized gears 5 materia slots are there for the midcore+ playerbase not casual players.

Midcore very much does exist, it's just that the "midcore" moniker has been deeply co-opted and most actual midcore players get bundled into casual.

Ooh, good point. That would be a good compromise for letting people have easier access to the dyeable gear, but still holding some value for the EX trial version.

It could be like Eureka where ilevel synch means the gear (and easy overmelding) remains valuable despite not being the latest content.

(The exact label of "weathered" still bugs me - seeing as how they're newly made for us after we give Grenoldt his inspiration boost. "Prototype" like the Alexandrian gear could work, or "experimental" or "inspired" or something.)
