You want to talk inventory space? SE rents you extra inventory space if you want it, otherwise provides you with a fairly decent amount of it out the gate. Best comparison is wow.

Lets just copy paste this to save myself time:

WoW:
Inventory - 5 Slots with a bag size of 32 Items...so 160 Space. You have to craft/buy these bags. Keep in mind 32 is what I could find on a google search, so if theres a larger bag, let me know.
Bank - 28 Starter Slots + 7 Bags (32 items a pop) so....252 Slots.

Total of 412 Items in a standard inventory

FFXIV
Immediate Inventory - 140
Chocobo Saddle bag - 70
Retainers - 175 x 2

I would hazard most players dont get extra retainers and make do with what they have. And no one get cute with "They should give it to us." Inventory space is always a hot topic in MMOs and will probably always will be. The difference here is that they give us pretty decent space out the gate, then offer more if you want it. Then as for making money - thats a bit more complicated. While sending out more retainers does increase the odds of getting good resale items, its not a very efficient method. As an example, on Sarg if I grind out 2200 Firmament Scrips and buy and sell a firmament glamour, thats 500k right now. Thats a few hours of work at most. Ive sent my retainers out for a week straight almost back to back when possible, and have made no where near that in their returns. Quick explore and the like are gambling. If you want to make real money in the game, crafting and gaming the MB itself by holding onto items till they maximize in price is how you do it. You can literally make millions of Gil by selling mats for crafted gear and the like with proper timing.

With those who I know have extra retainers, they dont own them to increase MB sales, they own them for storage. And even then the caveat is they have it for housing and glamour purposes predominately, or stocking up on mats to sell later. You think we need more inventory space? Fine, lets discuss that. We can discuss actual changes that make a lot more sense, like a glamour system more like WoWs.

Gotta point out that most of the added hairstyles in the game tend to be much more masculine leaning then feminine. So why you argue about good mens outfits, where are all the nice women's hairstyles? Its a bit of give and take. And to be 100% honest, glamour has been a lot more neutral sex the last year or so.
