Of course, SE has the authority to expand the staff on FFXIV and even get the cash shop team to work on free content. It's not like SE has to have a seperate cash shop team outside of FFXIV's main team.It was apparently a greedy practice due to the fact it was not put in the game to earn in some manner.
Even though SE has said, I think in two live letters, could be wrong on that number, that the cash shop is a different team and all he can do is suggest. Which means that the people who work on cash shop things get paid via cash shop things not by subs since there a different entity. Which folks have already stated.
In short, if the cash shop folk produce it ends up the mogstation, the FFXIV team produce it than it ends up in game.
I don't think anyone is trying to equate the two in terms of interchangeable outfits. But in terms of desirable outfits going into the game directly vs into the cash shop, then this very popular item (regardless of your personal taste in clothing*) is a valid counterpoint to the claim that everything that people really want to wear is going into Mog Station and the things available in-game are second rate.
* I wouldn't wear it either but I used it on a male alt for a dancer costume. It looked great. And I do love seeing how people combine it with pants that have sashes that seem to blend into a longer shirt.
Also, people seem to complain bitterly any time we get long embroidered gowns in game. "Robes again!" "They're making me wear a dress!"
There's always someone unhappy whatever they do and wherever they put things.
If you want gold-embroidered robes, look at some of the Edengrace gear or earlier items. You're not locked to wearing items released this month. Find something you like.
I mean I think part of this is more a matter of taste than quality. The dalmascan top has a lot of nice detailing on the belt across it and pairs well with high waisted pants and skirts, and I think well with the pants it comes with too. It also dyes very nicely imo.I mean it's the best looking glamour if you want to walk around with a scarf barely covering your chest. I really don't think it's comparable to the detail of a long gown with gold embroidery etc etc.
Looks like with one wrong movement she'll be exposed to the world but you're right, to each their own. If anything I think the rebel coat is a lot more detailed and you were right on that one as a closer comparison on quality.
Whereas the faerie dress, while nicely detailed and having a VERY neat gradient when dyed... also looks kind of dull along the largest dyed portion (the flap part over the shoulders) when dyed most of the colors I like. The shoes from it dye horribly imo as well, or at least don't look good to me in just about anything but their default color even though I love the branch pattern on them.
Also the dress just plain looks unflattering on my character. Frankly it looks way better on one of my FC mates male Miqo'te than it does on my Viera girl. I won't be buying it :P

Every mog station update the waifu warriors decide to attack again with threads like this. Meanwhile me and other male character players are sitting here like: "Just stop releasing dresses, female NPC only gear and feminine looking attires and give me something already".
Must be tough to keep up with the monthly 40 dollars female wardrobe fee. At least it's something to complain about.

Not all females. My signature related. I bet the gown looks like a choir robe two sizes too big in all the wrong places on us.
The weird thing when we think about it :
female primals are beautiful women
male primals are mostly pure monstruous beast
If they try to release non gender-locked clothes... they do some kind of priest dress. That's strange they never consider some kind of trousers. They will dress men like women rather than giving "male" clothes for both gender.
This said... watch the real wardrobe of a woman, the wardrobe of a man... well... you get the picture, don't you? XD

Normality is just an average. I'm the weird, you're the bizarre.
I compare current expansion to the previous one, and this one is lackluster in a lot of areas but mainly on battle content for casuals. So you don't count all that gear, crater-gatherer stuff, trials, relic weapons\gear, events and many other things, right? How many items you can use for glam were already in the game?
All that matters is that you didn't get that dress with ugly wings that they added to cash shop. Also read before you pots, many people already stated that the game development team doesn't work together with cash shop team.
The gear we got a lot of it is also just a recolor of the previous one.
Crafting and gathering content is boring and pointless, fishing is even more, eureka was more fun than that.
Also no hildibrand, no palace of death, and so on and so forth i could go on and on for the rest of the day, and if you really dont see the quality going down then i cant help you see it.
Also those 74 dungeons we have, most of them allows us only to play with limited skillset, for some jobs like DRK playing under lvl 80 and lower is like a slap to the face, pressing 3 buttons for 20 minutes straight, no thank you.

I've played f2p Korean mmo's before. Is there any pay 2 win items on the mog station? No. Is there Items I can buy and then sell in the marketplace? No. Can I buy Gil on the mogstation? No. So in my book no it is not becoming like a Korean mmo.
Funny you should ask, because I brought that up way back on page 5 but everyone conveniently failed to notice. So selling useless things to idiots is harmless, I can agree with that. That still makes me to question why there is a 20 page complaint about cosmetics and not paid retainers, which are not useless. They offer inventory space, market space and ventures which all have an impact on game play, unlike cosmetics. Why is the player base not appalled that basic game features are severely limited without paying more for it but gets mad about paid outfits (which fit the "selling useless things to idiots" description as well)?
The criticism is completely legitimate and a lot of people feel the same way. I know I do. Squeenix is double dipping and it's a scummy move. Even if you look past that fact, then there's the fact that they're charging exorbitent prices for these pieces on top of that. That's not even getting into the fact that they are literally selling storage sp...sorry, RENTING storage space!
Just because every company is doing it, doesn't make it right. Nor does it make it an accepted practice, because the only people who accept it are marketing suits and whales. Cash shops are anti-consumer, doubly so when you're already paying a monthly fee just to access the game.
Also, when was the last time the Mogstation had a sale on costume pieces or mounts? I haven't seen one sale on those items since I started playing.
