Paladin is sort of the anti red mage at this point. Red mage builds up a resource to spend on a melee combo. Paladin goes into its spell phase to burn its MP on spells, then builds its mp back up through its physical rotation. It just doesn't have a lot of spells, just a st spell, aoe spell, and finisher used for both. (Of course you can clemency as well but that's more utility for when things go south rather than part of the main rotation.)
