    Still spell-interruption by moving?

    -NEW-
    Spellcasting spec changes

    -NEW-
Moving will be made to interrupt spellcasting

Are you still going with this? I thought that XIV would be able to give something new a free since I really love being a mage but I guess I'll have to look for another game to play then.

You have to think about balance, Mages conjure magics that require concentration. should you really be able to run around casting spells. It is the trade off for using strong attacks, Just as a Great Sword is slow to move, So is a mage Still to Cast

Actually has been explained by yoshi the reason of this, and sound reasonable: PVP.
He made an example where a melee engage a mage : the mage cast a powerful nuke (let's say thundaga), the melee run away to avoid it, and the mage follow him without interrupting the cast = melee dead. Since would be painful introducing this feature where pvp will be live, they are releasing now so we can stat praticing.
It's actually a really valid argument in a game with pvp. I'll miss casting in movement, but i'll live with it

Spell channeling is not something new to mmos, casters stay put while harnessing the spell power, much like archer dont move when shooting an arrow , thats why we arc get long animations

as far as i heard its not instant cancel its like 11 where you wait till the spell is done casting. in Eqoa you could move while casting but your movement speed was reduced to walking. which i think if they are gonna do the spell thing it should be that. and IMO spell interruption if anything should only be at the low levels for beginning mage lore wise sure and amateur mage would have to sit there and concentrate but a master no they can multitask and even cast magic without even doing the incantation. moving around in this game is fun it makes the fights interesting and fast paced its fine right now if your moving you dont get much mp back as standing there thats a good trade off.

The whole reason why you can have TWO conjurers that heal since most use two anyways. If they both get eruptions and have to move, gladiator should heal him/herself, or you can have a thm resonance a heal to him.

There are other ways to go around these things. People are going to figure them out and get used to them. It's not that bad of a problem.

Plus like everyone else said, it makes more sense this way. And it gives way to people actually using debuffs. Instead of casting and running at the same time, now you have to throw in a sleep to sleep them or pray that your thundara will stun them while you stay stationary to gain mp back. People aren't looking into the future and just focusing on content that already exists and how they have to change their habits and work around this new system.

This is ridiculous. Why even make 14? Just continue working on FFXI. If you don't have a problem with the implementation of movement cancelled spells, you obviously need to go back to FFXI.
