The thing is, those people criticizing the survey, what form of feedback do they accept if that one wasn't enough? Do they value these forums more as a form of feedback? By their standards these forums would be completely meaningless.

In the end you have to work with something , and that survey seems like the best and most credible feedback they got in a while. If you dismiss that than you may as well claim it's nearly impossible for devs to get realistic information from their playerbase.

You are being very strawman-y of the people who are critising the survey, I complain about stuff in the game all the time and hate a lot of whats happening, Im just pointing out the flaws in this survey and why it should not be taken as gospel, again you cannot just look at the number of responses and say its valid if only one group of people our answering it. To use an irl example of when I've done some surveys for my institution, people who did lectures in the moring were not satisfied with the lectures, and then the groups who did the same lecture in the afternoon were also unsatsified. It would be wrong however to just look at the morning peoples data and the reasons they gave, despite both groups being unsatisfied, because the reason behind the dissatisfaction was completely different.
