I don't know about others but I would be very disappointed should they be added into the game without some lore addressing why they suddenly go into public.

Male Viera should NEVER be added. Disgusting.

Why do people come up with arbitrary and fake complaints to fuel problems that don't exist?

To be honest, while I wouldn't care TOO MUCH if they were added without fanfare, I also don't think the dev team would resist the urge to parade one or two around as NPCs.
They can still be rare, maybe we'll only see ONE in the entirety of 6.0 (as usual, under the assumption that they are added in the first place), maybe even giving the usual "Oh, I heard all about this great warrior that single-handedly took on the Empire and I just HAD to meet you" that is so common among NPCs we meet.
But yeah, my point, I'm sure that, after working so hard on the models, we'd likely meet a few NPCs, even if it has to be super rare like the common beast tribe quest (where we normally see one of the 4 Mooncats in the game), or the end of a raid series or what-have-you.
Plus, given how much this dev tem LOVES to tease and troll the playerbase, we'll get a lot more of those "Oh, this is a work of one of the men of our tribe! Pity you couldn't meet!" like that one quest in Rak Tika
It would be so cool if we were challenged to a duel by a male viera in this scenario.

There was never concern in my mind: "But do I pray SE does not forget to add lore to go with a thing D:".
I thought appropriate lore development was always most likely if not 100% likely part of the package. If we get it.
Fingers crossed ad nauseam![]()

I think that is just a Japanese thing. Male characters tend to come out more boyish, feminine, or androgynous in general, while also featuring an overly stereotyped character here and there - like very bulky, etc..I'm not convinced that there's more balance these days - especially when a lot of new hairstyles and outfits for male characters are designed to be feminine or androgynous. The number of people playing male characters who actually want to wear a dress is very much a minority. Albeit a very vocal one. Requests for additional tattoo, scar and facial hair options have been put forward for years - predating even the requests for viera to be added in the first place.
There's also a pretty jarring contrast in the amount of effort put into the NPC outfits sold on the Mog Station/used by canon characters. Hien plays a much greater role in the story than Lyse but the textures of his outfit are very stretched and unpolished. Much more effort was put into ensuring that the likes of Alma, Yotsuyu, Lyse and Y'shtola had unique dresses.
One also only has to look at how quickly the 2B outfit was fixed when the enhancements to female character's rear ends were compromised. It received an official statement and was very quickly reverted - which is much more than can be said of the problems that exist with the male character models/specific gear that looks botched.
Then when we tie things back to male viera, those of us who enjoy playing male characters were expected to settle for hrothgar because we 'needed something different' but those who prefer to play female characters received yet another conventionally attractive race. That isn't to say that I'm against the inclusion of Hrothgar (especially now that Gangos/Bozja has actually established them as part of the game world) but there's something of a double standard to it all.
I don't know what you mean by jarring contrast. There is like only one NPC outfit that you can attribute that to in the mogstation, and that is only the Hien outfit. I am pretty sure the textures to his outfit look just as low quality garbage in-game too. It seems to me they just ripped the outfit and resized it for player characters. Not necessarily any actual bias. I'd say you are grasping at straws on this one.
Agreed. 2B butt thing was stupid, that apparent fix didn't need to be rushed out as quick as it did either, in my opinion.
I don't think people who wanted to play a male character were "expected" to play hrothgar, rather it was for people who wanted to play a beast race. Viera was a fan favorite - specifically female viera. Whether they made those hideous male viera concepts or not. They compromised, Expected more people to play a male beast race than female, and frequently requested viera (who have always been depicted female) supposedly due to this being the last chance to add any new races to the game. Both players who wanted a female beast race, and players who wanted a male viera are out of luck.

Meanwhile I'm here with food:
A nice art of both female Hrothgar and male Viera by @pleasebemine00:

I bring it up because the lore of the two races are extremely similar. Male miquotes are rare, and they don't often leave their settlements. One cat boy is mate to dozens of females. So to that end, if we're looking at "we need an explanation" then it's fair to say there should be an explanation as to the sudden explosion of male cats in the game, and why they're not doing their duty to oversee their tribes.People love to bring in an XIV race when talking about an Ivalice Race. -sigh-
I wont disagree with the idea that the Player could be the ONE Male Viera under some random unexplained circumstance that went out adventuring and happens to be The Warrior of Light; Hydalyns chosen Champion. But this is an MMO so no doubt there will be a number of other MaleViera: which under the Players eye is just another Random Adventurer, running around. So to circumvent this, I think they should have a number, even a small number of Male Viera NPCs.
At least then we can at least World Build that the Viera Males in general have come out of Hidding and are joining their 'Sisters' in the outside World.
That to me would just make more sense and be better then Just slapping in the Viera Males.
Also while the lore is similar, they've made it clear that the viera of FFXIV are not the same as those on Ivalice. Even physically, there are many differences. Skin colors, hair color, the shape of their hands and feet.... (I realize some of these things exist because players want customization options, and others because it made creating the race easier from a development standpoint, but it goes to say that these two races are different)
That said, I don't think the developers need to explain the choices of players in the lore. "Why do male roes often wear wedding dresses and flowery hats?" for example...

A players choice of Glamour plays no role in story telling.
Why Male Viera: which have never been seen by most, suddenly are leaving the forest and going against their Traditionasl Laws as Viera and losing the "Voice of the Woods" thus becoming outcasts by their kind and considered "No Longer Viera" Would play a role in story telling.
And, if it wasn't missed for the Umpteenth time...Ive said that its not a Requirement. Not like I have a say in the matter anyway, its up to SE/ Yoshi and team to decide IF and HOW they wanna implement Male Viera. Id just like there to be some Lore and Story behind it so that we can Expand on Viera lore. Making it more enticing for them to become part of the open world, instead of just Plopping them in Willy Nilly "Just Because"
I think it would win some people over that think Male Viera is stupid or think shouldn't exist.
Im part of Team No Viera, but Id personally LIKE it, if there is some effort put behind their involvement if an MMO is gonna be the First time we ever see a Canon Male Viera. If they get lazy with it and just slap them in Willy Nilly, well nothing I can do about it, but it would just make me feel very disappointed. And Id find it, and the team Lazy.
