Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

When people try to wedge questions about Viera and Hrothgar into things like the "Q&A with the sound director" call for questions, it certainly seems like people expect them to discuss it in every interview - regardless of the relevance, and when they've made it clear that there's no more to say.

Maybe its because people know that this is the only way to get their attention? Look at the male bunny suit or egi glamour. Would we have gotten those if we did not ask them about it again and again? Also they are the ones picking the questions. There is no harm in asking as long as its not rude..and if they choose to pick that one and then act annoyed..well they only have themselves to blame.

About your point a few pages back with neutral topics: Why should people need to post something neutral as topic itself? Maybe they just dont like it and want to write why? And sometimes they want to have the opinion of others too but I honestly dont see what a neutral title itself would do. The discussion inside it would be mixed anyways. (Look at this one..its a support thread..something positive..and yet more than enough people just come here to post useless off topic insults)

I see this disgusting thread is still alive. This game is already mostly morally-defunct. Male Viera would probably be the last straw for me. Not to mention the lore implications.

But Ive advocated several times for this threads existence and that everyone has the right to their opinion on it. That no Male Viera supporter should feel different for their support all because a bad egg appears every so often. I also talked about how I would like them to look in the event we might even get Male Viera. So its not like this is the only time Ive ever said anything Positive and worthwhile in this Thread.

But putting all that aside, I wanted to talk about your issue with the lore. While I disagree with you on that, I do understand where you're coming from. It would definitely be interesting to see a story-related reason as to why male viera are suddenly appearing in the game. It would be pretty.. uh, what's the word, cinematic? However, even if we don't get some sort of story-related reason, I'd still like to see male viera as a playable character.

The warrior of light is a really unique character that doesn't follow social norms, and we play under the assumption that we, the player, are the main character. Just like there are very few male miqo'te in lore, the same can be done for male viera. Other players are just random adventurer's in your story and their race is irrelevant. Even if male viera are elusive in lore, you are the one unique male viera who is the warrior of light in your story.

It would be better to have a story-related reason for the appearance of male viera for sure. It would be cool to see unfold. The idea of seeing more male viera npc appear little by little in the story is appealing.

But I'm just saying even if there's no reason and they're just added as a playable character in the story, I'd be fine with that, too. I don't remember since it's been a long time, but there was never a story-related reason for when they added au ra, right? Overall, I do think it would be nice and better to have a story-related reason for their inclusion, but even if they don't, I'd still like it if male viera were added.

It never made sense for Yugiri to have to cover herself up, especially if you're playing as an au ra yourself. There are a few immersion breaking things like that in this game, but even if it's not ideal, I don't think that should be a reason to stop the dev team from implementing playable male viera.

It's been said before, but Yugiri covered herself up because she "tought she'd be too odd a sight in Eorzea". That's the in-universe reason. The out-of-universe reason is, simply, the model wasn't done. Of course, this was also a plot point in 3.0, when Au Ra are mentioned to having been shot on sight by Ishgardians (namely, the Xaela in the WHM quests, I'm terrible with names, you'll have to forgive me), but the Xaela from the DRK quests is... there... and an Auri PC can waltz, tango, or foxtrot into Ishgard without anyone batting an eye. Yugiri even tells an Auri PC the same thing about not wanting to freak out Eorzeans.
As an aside, Roegadames didn't have a Lore reason for their exclusion, they were just... excluded, Miqo'te had a hint of a reason with a Lore similar to the Viera (Moonkeepers, since Sunseekers don't have the whole "hidden in the woods, away from settlements" tidbit that Mooncats do. That's why we can see Nuhns and Tias in-game but there's less than a handful of Keeper males... among NPCs. Keeper males are very popular among the playerbase).

But, again, since Moonkeeper Lore is so similar to Viera Lore...

I swear it's been the 5th or 10th time I've had to say that...

Oh that's right, I remember reading something about that in the game. Wouldn't au ra players or npc be killed if they walked into Ishgard because of lore? I totally forgot about that.

WhiteArchmage already explained the Au-ra above. But the only thing Ill say about that is...the Au-ra are a brandnew race so far exclusive to XIV, while the Viera have been established in Ivalice since Tactics, and then we see them again in the Familiar land of Ivalice in XII. Their Lore is already written, and kept consistent. Its not new to XIV like the other races are.

Despite our differences, we both at least agree a good story would make it more interesting for them to be in the game.
And I wont get mad or fight anybody if they DO get put into the game. I just hope and would appreciate some good writing behind it besides "Just because" And this is only exclusive to the Viera, because again, they were made before this game, so Id just like their lore to be consistent and Id rather it be Expanded on, instead of lazily ignored Just to put them into the game.
