My biggest issue with it is there is no way to get it in game. At all. Even if it was a 1% chance off of something that would be better than this.
If I'm going to pay for a monthly sub, I expect the cash shop to be minimal.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

It sounds to me all you are doing is defending Square Enix's excessive pricing for optional items that could well be part of in-game events.
Without ruining SE's business, another solution for everyone to enjoy optional items would be if they slashed half the item's price after every year in the store, so it starts at 100% the price, one year later 50%, one year later 25%, etc. etc., I doubt many players buy DLCs after years in the Mog Station anyway!.

I have mixed feelings on this but will agree the pricing for SE on optional items is a bit on the high side - where I can go to another game with optional content (ex Monster Hunter World) and get them for much less.It sounds to me all you are doing is defending Square Enix's excessive pricing for optional items that could well be part of in-game events.

I do know on the flip side that the optional items in SE to a degree take more work due to animation modelling on multiple character races.
My personal feeling is that mounts that are not account wide should be around 7-10 dollars (10 if they add different music or animations - because a majority of them don't even have that) and account wide 12-15 dollars USD.
Emotes should be around 3-5 dollars.
Outfits around 7-10
I'm not sure if the high prices are due to their credit - but they really should lower the prices if they want to curb RMT. As it stands right now the reason they have issues with chargebacks is due to RMT hacking other player accounts, and then reselling fraudulent items on ebay. If they want to curb this activity most will buy from the station if they were lower prices to begin with. 25 dollars for a mount is a bit excessive as well as some of the other base prices.

eh....... I'd rather paid than 1% chance of obtaining. <shudders in 1.0 Blue Mage learn rates>
