If you don't make the "big bucks", then you don't need to add money to pay to your subscription. But, for some of us that amount of money is nothing and it would benefit both players who can pay and SE in terms of increasing their revenue.

I mean ideally, I want them to fix the housing so people aren't using bots to camp placards on the servers, but after all these years I doubt that will ever happen. I see them more likely embracing something akin to this idea because it'll make them more money, and as we all know SE is a business first.

So for those of us that already pay a sub, because we can't afford to pay even more that means we should be double screwed out of housing? It's already almost impossible for regular players to even get a chance to purchase housing like you said, but you seem to only care about people like yourself who can easily afford paying even more. That stinks of watered down pay2win and you know it.

We all pay a sub so we should all have equal access to the game. Mog station stuff is either cosmetic or story skips/level boosts which are only a preference thing and don't give any actual advantage over other players. In comparison, MMOs that don't have subs have much more robust cash shops to keep profits coming in to the game, making it borderline insufferable because it puts all the good stuff in there, pressuring you to buy it if you want to have anything good (Guild Wars 2 has unfortunately fallen into that habit). So paying the monthly sub reduces that bloat and pressure which, although I'm not a fan of having to pay continuously to play, at least it means I have much more of the game available to me. So to then carve out a part of the game and say "nope sorry you have to pay even more now if you want this" is dirty.

To put 'good' housing behind a paywall is scummy, and just because you don't care about the higher price tag, that doesn't mean SE should only cater to those with more money.

There's really no need for the ad-hominem attacks, because of my suggestion. This would be optional content you do not have to buy, if they added more wards or reduce them depending as to how many people would be paying them for premium housing, the demand for normal housing would be decreased leaving you with more opportunities to purchase normal housing. Calling optional housing you can purchase "Pay2Win" is completely disingenuous.

If I suggested to turn all housing into a paywall you would have a point with saying they are carving out content from the game. Lets please try to keep this discussion mature without personal attacks.

Good thing none of that was, then. Save your buzzwords for Reddit or something. Don't cherry-pick what I said and then hand wave the rest as 'ad hominem'. It's not a personal attack just because you don't agree with it. It's also insulting that you think my statement was anything close to immature. I say those things from years of experience as an adult while paying for and playing these types of games.

Adding more actual game features that aren't cosmetic or equally obtainable in-game for free (i.e. level boosts and story skips) is just how games end up having most of the actual game require more purchases, because players feel like they have no choice and must make those purchases in order to fully experience and enjoy the game. Is that sufficient enough for you or should I praise you as well to prevent being accused of ad hominem again?

Pay to win isn't part of what this game is about. Sorry but we pay subs already and paying a premium subscription for a house is a bad idea and the chances of it happening are pretty slim in my opinion and it sends a terrible message to the community both inside and outside the game.

Especially when housing is more of a problem for the NA side and even still it's not totally DC wide. It's a flawed system but RMT is not the way to go.

This exact mentality is what leads to things like Valorant's $300 weapon skin. While I'm okay with micro-transactions to an extent, they should never be the solution to fixing a problem. You're essentially telling SE "don't actually invest money to fix housing. We'll pay you instead!" They'll keep that in mind when another problem arises. And once a company's gone down that rabbit hole. Good luck convincing them to stop.

But if we were going to pay for housing. I'd expect a vastly superior system than what FFXIV offers. Some examples being able to reconstruct the whole layouts, have entirely free reign where things can be placed (i.e., no glitching required) and much larger item space all come to mind. Basically, if SE decided to charge for housing. I don't want to hear a single peep over restrictions like the Glamour Dresser, Company Workships and etc.
