    Idea: Premium Wards

I have an idea where they should implement more wards into the game, but make them premium instead. Meaning you can only buy them from the mogstation for real money.

$2.99 per month for a small
$4.99 per month for a medium
$10 per month for a large

In the case of stopping your payment, you would have an extra 10 days from the time your house expires to pay your fee or else your home gets demolished with your items being held by the NPC. Because you are paying a fee there would be no auto-demolish if you do not step inside your house.

What are your thoughts on this?

Well how about a .05 to .15 cents increase in subscription fee. At the moment FFXIV has an estimated 748,912 active players worldwide, so an increase of .05 to 15 cents would earn SE an additional minimum amount of 35,000 USD monthly, hopefully enough to expand server capacity for housing to be readilly available for all players.

I'm pretty sure this has already been suggested, and people generally don't want to pay more real life money just to have a house. Almost doubling the monthly fee just to have a large house is insane. We don't all make the big bucks.

If you don't make the "big bucks", then you don't need to add money to pay to your subscription. But, for some of us that amount of money is nothing and it would benefit both players who can pay and SE in terms of increasing their revenue.

I mean ideally, I want them to fix the housing so people aren't using bots to camp placards on the servers, but after all these years I doubt that will ever happen. I see them more likely embracing something akin to this idea because it'll make them more money, and as we all know SE is a business first.

It'll be a no from me. Besides have we had an official statement on how much of XIV's earnings actually make it back into the game? I'd assume it to be about a fraction or less than half, save for them getting more access to it when promoting new expansions. ShB felt like it saw more promotional material than any before it.

So for those of us that already pay a sub, because we can't afford to pay even more that means we should be double screwed out of housing? It's already almost impossible for regular players to even get a chance to purchase housing like you said, but you seem to only care about people like yourself who can easily afford paying even more. That stinks of watered down pay2win and you know it.

We all pay a sub so we should all have equal access to the game. Mog station stuff is either cosmetic or story skips/level boosts which are only a preference thing and don't give any actual advantage over other players. In comparison, MMOs that don't have subs have much more robust cash shops to keep profits coming in to the game, making it borderline insufferable because it puts all the good stuff in there, pressuring you to buy it if you want to have anything good (Guild Wars 2 has unfortunately fallen into that habit). So paying the monthly sub reduces that bloat and pressure which, although I'm not a fan of having to pay continuously to play, at least it means I have much more of the game available to me. So to then carve out a part of the game and say "nope sorry you have to pay even more now if you want this" is dirty.

To put 'good' housing behind a paywall is scummy, and just because you don't care about the higher price tag, that doesn't mean SE should only cater to those with more money.

There's really no need for the ad-hominem attacks, because of my suggestion. This would be optional content you do not have to buy, if they added more wards or reduce them depending as to how many people would be paying them for premium housing, the demand for normal housing would be decreased leaving you with more opportunities to purchase normal housing. Calling optional housing you can purchase "Pay2Win" is completely disingenuous.

If I suggested to turn all housing into a paywall you would have a point with saying they are carving out content from the game. Lets please try to keep this discussion mature without personal attacks.

Housing is already premium enough as many people dont have one now as it is. I'm sure they make enough with retainers.

I wouldn't mind these prices, I just want SE to not look at increasing server capacity for housing as a net loss in revenue and start looking at it as a potential to increase their revenue with a fee attached to housing. As I assume that's why they don't want to increase the housing wards to more reasonable levels.

I assumed people wouldn't mind my idea, because it would benefit all parties involved. SE would make more revenue and have motivation to increase the server capacity instead of ignoring the problem. People who don't want to pay for premium housing would have less demand on normal housing meaning more opportunities to purchase a house with gil. People who don't mind paying real money for a housing could get one instantly.

Honestly, I'm a little shocked at the vitriol I recieved stating, "you seem to only care about people like yourself who can easily afford paying even more." Which is not the case at all as I had the best of intentions for all parties involved.

I see now how unpopular this idea is, although I'm still not sure why, but I'm now going to abandon this thread and let it die. I just want housing to be improved so I wanted to have a discussion about my idea. I only had the best of intentions with my idea.
