Think we will get a Final Fantasy XIV-2 in the future?

If anything once ffxi dies off then possible ff17 could be the next MMO. However ffxiv is going super strong. If anything I would like for them to get enough dev support to overhaul the game's graphics and shading and fix alot of things they cant due to the early code from 1.0

Next game should drop all open world and only offer cutscenes and instances (dungeons/raids), and also a HUB type of place. Wouldn't be an MMO but I'd LOVE that.

FFXI is still making money for SE though despite it's extreme age - its community is somewhat small but very very dedicated, to the point SE has hinted that in 2022 there will be "something special" connected to the game that SE will announce then for the game's 20th anniversary (the rumour is a new expansion pack, but given SE have officially wound up the game's storyline I doubt it). Either way, FFXI is in no danger of being shut down, not while it still has players dedicated to it (and a small but dedicated development team).

I've already said it but I will say it again, SE are highly unlikely to invest in developing a new FF MMORPG - the market for new MMOs had already stagnated, and with the global economy in complete meltdown SE simply are not going to take a risky gamble on a long and costly MMORPG development project that is likely to blow up in their face and bring them crashing down in flames, it happened to them once already with FFXIV 1.0, and unlike ARR which turned things around, there would be no possibility of salvaging such a hypothetical game with a reboot this time.

I mean, "A Realm Reborn" and all the subsequent expansions of XIV could already pretty much be called XIV-2. Anyway, I don't expect that we'll be seeing the game fade away anytime soon. Even though we're getting closer to the end of one major story arc, we have plenty of setup for new ones to emerge. Even after the entire story plays out to the end I'm sure this game will still be up for some years after.

I'm not sure SE will ever make another PC/Console MMORPG due to the cost and the rise of mobile gaming. If anything, there might be more MMORPGs that will be mobile. FF15 has one in development https://www.ign.com/articles/2020/01...ent-for-mobile. FF11 mobile version is in dev hell.

I honestly don't want any more mmos not because the game but because everyone is oversenstive cry reporting just about anything and unlike the past devs have no backbones in mmos so they just submit and issue a ban because someone had their little feelings hurt on virtual world. If companys can return to the past of not caring so long as people weren't rmt or hacking I'd support this but in the over senstive world nty

Well, it mainly applies to a little part of NA and western European people, other countries are not like that.

Some asian MMOs are more suffering that they are released too fast considering their quality. And the other problem, they are all medieval based and the market is oversaturated by ArcheAge like-games. New comers can't reach WoW or FFXIV and they need to be better than BDO or TESO, they never are.

The current state of art could easilly justify a brand new MMO especially with next-gen and G5.

I think one day there will be a new FF mmo to basically take the place of this one, whether it's in the same world or not who knows but I don't think either will happen anytime soon.
