I've messed with all these options and it's still garbage. Stop defending a broken system. They added an option a while ago that allows you to change the tab targeting behaviour.
By default it ignores the depth and yes, seemingly targets at random, but the other is a cone in the direction your camera (i think) is facing, meaning it'll cycle through closest to furthest as you might expect.
You also have this as an option too.

No, not that I know of. The only thing I can think of is the "scroll through targets nearest to farthest." And that's pretty janky especially in the middle of combat.

I don't even waste my time trying to tab target in this game
I mean, I'll certainly promote other systems where they're clearly better, but on this forum anything even vaguely reminiscent of "action combat" (i.e. having responsive, unbloated systems) will set the rabid masses on you.

I changed my option to tab the closest to me. Problem solved for me.

Oh trust me. I'd kick myself in the d**k if I ever suggest "action combat". The only games I ever liked action combat was Tera (banned from tera) and B&S but, that game got old quick.

*laughs as a controller player* and people say keyboard gaming on pc is better well its notswitching targets on controller is laughable easy
and great

No. I have to disagree because you disagree...and mostly because I'm sure I've played way more of these type of games than you, and for a longer amount of time. Otherwise, you'd know they all have tab targetting issues in one way or another.
