Ah, sorry to double post but I’m on mobile and I did want to address this. Wanting to do something as a passion project and wanting to do something to make someone else happy is still wanting to do something.

What I’m getting at is viera thirst didn’t appear out of thin air and then start beating the dev team over the head until it materialized independent of what they wanted to do. We know that they were back and forth before between implementing viera and introducing the au Ra and chose au ra partially due to the fact that viera were giving them trouble, supposedly due to the feet at the time. They had pretty fleshed out concepts that they chose to share with us. They chose to have a survey of races they were considering for community feedback. If they truly only wanted to do a beast race and be done, they would not have done any of this.

They wanted both for different reasons: Hrothgar to fill a gap, viera to appeal to the community that showed incredible enthusiasm when presented the idea by the team. Both reasons are equally valid.

The dev team gets plenty of credit. Perhaps they deserve more, sure. Viera players, in my experience, are extremely happy to be playing them. However, that does not mean there is nothing that can and should be improved upon. I love this dev team. They totally spoil us. They are so responsive and they care so, so much. This new video series has really highlighted that. So, I’ll have patience. I’ll of course keep playing. Is viera hair the most important thing in the whole game? Not even. But since the races are here and not going anywhere....

Not going to say all is perfect and wonderful, improvements can be made all over the place in every aspect of the game. The team isn’t perfect but these forums tend to be far more harsh then is necessary.

You got a wall of text in response to saying the viera were never intended to be implemented. That is not true. Also, I may be a bit over-caffeinated and overly passionate. So I do apologize for that.

I don’t really feel anyone in this thread has been overly harsh. Simply that they are tired of waiting which, seeing as the next major patch will be almost a year after launch, isn’t an unreasonable way to be feeling.

Yea I did and I stand by what I said. A year of waiting. Crafters and gatherers waited how long for serious end game content? How long have people waited for egi-glamours and still got nothing? How long have healers waited for a new job? How long have players waited for new vet rewards? How long have we waited for ARR to be streamlined? Instances replayable? Trusts?

Most of these things are still being waited on or were waited on for years. Yet Viera and Hrothgar players haven’t even made a full year yet and feel entitled to answers and quick action. I’m sorry but Viera and Hrothgar players have gotten more answers than any of these people in a more timely manner. So buck up and act like big boys and big girls and wait your turn. If you cant. Feel free to fantasia into a race you like more until they get around to it. You knew this was a thing when you fantasia’d over no one lied to you no one hide or misconstrued the truth.

They were incomplete races that would be worked on while the devs could. If you didnt figure it out when they told you. It was blatantly clear when it came out that devs used their personal time to adjust head piece items to work on these races that square had other things going on.

Yet people can claim the devs are lazy on these forums and complain about how they are being ignored when all evidence to the contrary isn’t being harsh? Right.

While I don't play Viera or Hroth as much anymore, I'll say it'll be a shame if they announced the races for this expansion but only give updates to them at the end of it. Sadly I feel like this is what's going to happen, and a big update for Viera and Hrothgar will occur around 5.5.

It’s not as if the people who have been waiting for everything else you mentioned have been sitting quietly, hands folded in their laps, until the team finally gets around to it But go off, I guess.

Have you read these forums? 9 out of every 10 topics are the same complaints over and over and over again. And that’s all most people do is throw out complaints.

Also i never said they worked on one thing at a time in fact i pointed out they work on a lot of things. Expansion, patches, new types of content, gear design, bug fixes, arr slimdown, new game plus stuff, etc etc etc. so yea misconstrue my point all you like but fact is this team does a lot and people sitting here posting up the different threads for the same topics day in and day out arent doing anything.

Especially when there’s been communication recently and people just have their hands out expecting more. You got told they are working on it. Just because you feel you waited enough doesn’t mean they are ignoring you or unaware of the issue or are lazy. Viera on this hairstyle thing have gotten more info than all the other stuff combined got up until they were released. Everything else sits in the dark waiting for any whisper of a rumor of progress. Viera players know the team is working on it.

You got me there! They certainly have vaguely communicated the same “we are working on it, it’s hard” message two whole times during the 8 month time period between today and the launch of the expansion whose marketing pushed these shiny new races as a major draw, then proceeded to give them minimal hair and even less customization than the others and not touch them for going on a year.

I like playing viera, and have no intention of using a fantasia because I have a single complaint about them. I understand they are limited at the moment, and at some point I would like them not to be. I’ve never personally called the devs lazy, because I don’t think they are. This is not about them personally. ¯\_(´^` )_/¯

How people interested in character design details aren't interested in watching a 2ish hour stream with the lead character artist and Yoshi P is beyond me.

And how many people that may not even got the forum that often will watch a stream? Heck I have met more than enough people that dont even read patch notes. One big new updated forum post is just the easiest solution and can be linked quite nicely if someone pops up with such a question.

Isnt that normal? The forum is the only place to give feedback. Yoshida himself has stated more than once that criticism is better than compliments because they will know what they could do better. And if a new content comes out you will always have those that like it or that dont. If those that dont is bigger then maybe it was just not good content. And as long as its not solved and there is no known date for them to change it why should people put a rest to it? We probably would have never gotten the egi glamour or the bunny outfit for men if people have just posted once for it and then waited patiently for it to come..its such topics that show them that there is demand. Of course its still on them to implement it or not.

Another good example: The amount of housing wards. People always complained (rightfully) that its just not enough housing. Then Shirogane savage came and it went terrible and the forum (and some other sites) exploded..and what did they do? Suddenly they were able to double the wards in each single housing district...without people complaining we would not have that happen because then they would rest on the things they have.

In the end you complain about complainers in a complain thread..maybe if you want more positive discussion then create those threads?

Didnt he also state that its better to condense these kinds of thread into a single thread and keep pushing it rather than create a bunch of smaller threads with what ends up being diminishing returns as people get fed up seeing the same threads over and over again?
