Viera, hairstyles and the lack of love.

I believe they have addressed this. Originally Yoshi-P said they’d incorporate any old styles they could. Then they seemed to change it to “new and unique racial styles only”.

Then in the most recent art stream (a week ago or so) he said that he understands that the situation isn’t good, that they are working on it, and to please have patience.

We still have a few more of those official videos to go as well that they’ve been releasing every week about the making of ShB. They will probably have one that centered around character design, and hopefully we will understand a bit better from that. Though I’m just speculating on that part.

A bit more transparency, a light at the end of the tunnel so to speak, would definitely be appreciated though. Your frustration isn’t unfounded or unshared.

Most definitely transparency is needed as not everyone watched the stream or reads interviews in articles. This information should be in a visible format on the official forms, in an official capacity. Not a "he said, that she said, that Yoshi-P said this..."
Nor does that excuse them from not providing a verbal warning in game about the hairstyle you may purchase ith valuable currencies not being usable on your race, leaving you with a junk item essentially or forcing you to choose a different race to use the purchased hairstyle...
That is not excusable. It should not be left on the players shoulders to know this. Some folks are new and going into Viera as a new character and WILL NOT KNOW THIS.

it's likely because of a need of a parity with hrothgar. if they made viera able to use these hairstyles people would complain that hrothgar are left out. (not that anyone but an infinitesimal fraction of the playerbase plays them)

I am with you, it's incredibly frustrating to someone like myself as well- I have Y'sthola's hairstyle from mogstation, yet Viera can't atleast wear that?
Why can't Hrothgar have interchangeable hairstyles to different faces? It wasn't smart to do this to Au Ra & their horns, people hated it but SE did it again to yet another race! The design on them is so backwards & yet they look lackluster compared to how the race looked in FFX, where they were slimmer & could stand upright, and not as if they had a back injury.

Just because it is not posted everywhere does not mean that the information is not out there. A google search, a cursory look at these forums, the subreddit, even going back to view old streams. This information is readily available.

Now does that mean that there is no reason to do the things you’ve suggested. No, but it also means that it isn’t mandatory either. We all knew viera and hrothgar were going to be different we have been told they are working on it.

Went through the same thing last expansion with the dumpster fire that was mch, and all we heard were whispers and we had to scrub through every live letter every fan fest for any news and all we heard was “please be patient” 5.0 came around and bam completely reworked class. Could be the same situation now

I agree it's really reached a point of ridiculousness. I've said before. I can live with old stuff not being compatible, there's a lot of it but there is absolutely no reason why anything post-5.0 isn't compatible. Especially Hairstyles.

I've gotten to the point where I don't even check new hairstyles or helmets anymore because I just know that's disappointment waiting to happen. It's really sad that we're almost a year into Shadowbringers and we're still yet to receive a single hairstyle, or 90% of the new helmets. Even an official notice with a rough ETA would be enough to tide me over for a while but they can't even seem to do that for some bizarre reason. Fourteen or so hairstyles can only keep you interested for so long, especially when half of those are just the same style but with bangs. Even then, I will never fantasia back because I like my character too much but I also don't want to pay a company for their negligence. I always joke that Viera are second-class citizens but now it's really starting to feel like it. Especially when they're as popular as they are compared to Hrothgar, but SE doesn't seem to care about that fact.

They never hide about it and warned the community that it is unfinished and there is no scheduled day to finish it before they put both races in the game
