Why is all the new hair that get added short hair?

I think one reason we don’t get truly short hair is because of the Miqote eats. I imagine it would look weird on them. The shortest they ever dared go universal for all races was Conrad Kemp’s hair, if you remember him.

Also, to SE only giving us bobs and straight hairstyles with bangs or whatever is probably because this is a Japanese game and well, when it comes to men in Asia, they usually have a bob, mop top or bowl cut hairstyles. I know that sounds terrible but think about it. It’s true. Sometimes you’ll see a guy with some other hairstyle, but mostly bob type hair. Women, they just have straight, sleek hair. They can style it however. So when they make short hairstyles, they have Asian men in mind and give us another variation of a bob, mop top or bowl cut. If it was a Western game, we’d have crew cuts, flat tops, some corporate cut or whatever we have here. This might also be why we also don’t get curly as Asians don’t have curly hair unless they perm it.

Yeah, I was going to reply about this. I agree, we probably don't see a lot of the more masculine styles that are popular here in the west, because we get more Japanese styled cuts in this Japanese game. Still, I wouldn't think it would be that big of an ask to get one or two western styled haircuts. Actually, it probably is a big ask.

I use this cut, and I think it looks fine.... I'm not put off by the lack of ears where you'd normally expect them on a human face.

Also I would say this is a Japanese developed game.... but at this point it's a world-wide game. Square needs to make at least some accomodations for tastes and cultures all over in order to be more successful. They've started doing this with things like western audiences wanting sex restrictions removed from clothing items, so I'm not trying to imply that they're ignorant to this. But getting hairstyles that are timeless yet popular in North America and Europe will benefit the game's popularity in those markets.
