I don't think there's anything petty about personal tastes when it comes to aesthetics.

Wanting to preserve lore is one thing, but wanting glam removal for the purposes of making the game act like a single player game is quite different.

You would probably be happy enough with being able to blacklist gear like chocobo outfits, but some other people here seem to want to make every other player appear like souless generic npcs.

Surely you as a rper understand the difference. No one is ever a main character to the point that absolutely everyone around them isn't worthy of having an outfit that makes them stand out.

I do not want to look at x glam because y reasons so devs could you make a feature so I do not have to look at x. <- IT IS PETTY BY NATURE TO REQUEST THIS.

Especially when you have these options to avoid such things
    -teleport away
    -move away
    -Shrink camera view
    -turn camera
    -leave party
    -kick individual

Or people could act like mature adults and deal with it for the 1-120 min instance or brief few secs it is on screen.

I'm a fan of more options in general. Aesthetics are very much a matter of personal taste and if people don't want to look at another character's glamour for a particular reason, I'm all for those players gaining the ability to tweak their client side display to their liking.

Feature requests are not petty. It would be petty if Square Enix gave an official "no" response and people got all up in arms with pitchforks and torches as a response.

Go on, politely ask Square Enix for the most ridiculous feature you can think of, let them say no, and then walk away while saying "oh well."

    Nothing petty about that.

Considering glamour is a thing in the lore anyway, I don't really even buy into this in a 'preserve the lore' sense. It's perfectly lore viable to glamour your armor to look like something else, and if some adventurers have odd tastes in glamour, that's not lore breaking. If Glamour was a purely OOC thing, sure, but it exists in the story.

I seriously doubt SE would ever put this in because they made the glamour system and created all of the gear - battle, crafting, gathering AND glam. It's working as intended. There are some hairstyles that I personally think look awful or are "joke" hairstyles. Should we be able to have something in the game that I can click so I don't have to see those hairstyles in my cutscenes? Of course not. Because it's working as intended.

    Read what I said carefully

    THIS FEATURE IS

Feature requests are not petty THIS ONE IS however.

It straight up is asking for the developers to make a toggle because you do not want to look at x glam. THAT IS PETTY, not the idea of not wanting to see x glam that is reasonable to a person's opinion on what aesthetics they like, ASKING FOR THE DEVELOPERS TO MAKE A TOGGLE SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOOK AT X GLAM IS PETTY.

Clear enough for you to understand why this feature is petty?

If you have THAT much of a problem with people's aesthetics, then make a party finder for your dungeon and immersion and ask for lore-respectful outfits.

Otherwise if you put yourself into a roulette, I think it's reasonable to expect a glamour roulette of the same vein.

Um no you can't blanket all requests like that. Many requests we see in the forums are silly and/or petty.

And no that's not a comment on this thread. Just saying players ask for dumb or selfish things sometimes.

Yea I know glamour is part of lore. I just mean I understand those who feel things like a player in a chocobo suit can take away from the seriousness of the story. I don't support glam removal, but I can appreciate the point of view of some who do.

While the point of view of some other players really make me question why they even bother playing a mmorpg, given they can't stand one of the defining things of the genre; that you're not the only hero.
