For all the brave souls responding with "Yes!", I'd say you deserve the option to turn off glamour on other players.

For those who don't have the courage, though...
You cannot click your fingers and magically make a horrible outfit of another person disappear in RL, so why should you have that ability in a game, when you're unable to even ask another human being in front of you to do something about their look?
That argument makes no sense. Real life does not correlate with the game on 1 to 1 basis. You don't see people walking in their underwear/swimsuits in a city in real life. So if you have the courage to walk in the middle of city with your underwear/swimsuit on you deserve to ask for the people to not ask for this feature.

I for one see thousands of beautiful glamours, while only crossing paths with very bad ideas once or twice a month, which is why I wouldn't use that option even if it existed. -.-

Also, for everybody who'd like to have the option:
You DO realize, that people wear sometimes stuff that isn't entirely the same set, yes? Miss-matched outfits would be something you'd often have to see when turning off glamour; ergo, that'll be something you better shouldn't complain about. But in case staying tame would be no problem for you, I hope SE hears your wish and implements it in the future. =U.U=
Why does everyone ignore the point that it's entirely optional? If I turn off battle animations the game looks bad. It's worse than a mismatched outfit, but noone has a problem with the feature existing? Why does having the option to turn off glamour rile people so much?

If I was about to do a group activity for work and one of my coworkers shows up wearing a creepy frog costume, I will definitely make a remark and ask them to wear something less distracting.

But is isn't work is it its a video game. I'm generally too focused on healing or following mechanics to bother myself over what folks dress their characters in. I still fail to see what OP's issue is. Its a game, the characters and outfits are not real. As for being immersion breaking this is a game that has cat girls, flying motorcycles and talking fish people, don't think a roe or viera in a pair of small is really that put place.

That being said I do think folks on both sides of the argument are making a mountain out of a molehill

Indeed it's just a game, we shouldn't care about how other players like to play it on their client.

You are free to feel how you like but why the sudden 'outrage' now? FF12 had Fran in her lingerie, FF9 had the main villain in a pair of pants, Rikku wheres a bikini and Cloud spends part of FF7 in drag. Not like FF is doing anything new but folks are going to feel what they are going to feel.

Because people are not arguing about the optional part they are voicing their disapproval of the feature it self.

also just want to put it out here since some people keep saying my screen my screen we all scream for ice cream?. we really don't have much off a choice of the matter what we see on the screen if we are playing some games. its is the developer of the game that has the say what we can see and what we cant see on the screen. and yes many games allow mods to change what we see but some don't. Asking for more feature is good nothing wrong with that but its also nothing wrong with voicing their disapproval of said feature.

Because, like a lot of people in today's world, they are making an issue where one doesn't exist, or shouldn't exist and crying "muh immersions!". That ship sailed years ago.

Part of the problem is that it's both silly and serious at the same time, depending on how you look at it.

When you work with bytes and hex addresses all day like I do, you see computer data for what it is - a configuration of bits on a physical storage device. When you have a "copy" of a file, you really have a section of your storage drive configured to resemble a section of somebody else's storage drive.

Honestly, the feature suggestion itself is meaningless to me. I may get every-so-slightly uncomfortable with some of the near-naked players around, but it's not enough for me to actually push for a feature.

But telling me I can't manipulate the data on my computer because it's "somebody else intellectual property" is, quite frankly, ludicrous. It would be like saying all the cars in the world painted red require permission to do any kind of body work on them because they belong to the first guy to ever paint his car red.

Again, I don't advocate for immoral practices like piracy, harassment, online cheating, RMT, etc. Those are all directly harmful to other people. But if I keep to myself, you should too, right?

I didn't phrase that properly. I don't mind people disapproving a feature. They could just post and say I don't like it. Problem solved.

My problem lies with the fact that a lot of people are arguing that they don't want the feature because it will affect their client (for example say outfits will be mismatched or look ugly) when in really it doesn't affect them any in way (unless they use the aforementioned feature).

Damn dude you put my biggest issue with this debate into beautiful words. I feel like the 2 sides in this debate are on a different frequency in terms of perspective on computer data, which may be why it seems so bizarre to us how the opposition can hold such view on the matter.
