Considering that English is not my primary language, it is quite possible that I misuse terms at times.
You can distance yourself all you want... as long as it doesn't affect others.
As soon as your suggestions infringe on the likes and freedoms of others, expect resistance.

Yes this image you edited in third party software is totally the same as being able to draw lines and add that text in the actual game
Nice try but not everyone is going to be fooled.
Also what you did in that image is, in my opinion, far more preferable to hiding glams. I can still see the glam![]()
So you're telling me to not expect resistance.
But the resistance is already here.
That's the parallel people are drawing here. They are arguing that the character is somebody's identity, and that I'm tampering with it.
But what are those pixels on the screen, exactly? When you think about it, everything you deal with in the game client is a copy. It may be a real-time and interactive copy, but it is still a copy.
So it's not okay to modify a copy (the game client), but it's okay to modify a copy of a copy (the screenshot)?

Because your solution affects others. Showing off glams to others is a major reason the feature exists.
You modded and made screens of the live game to post in the official forums? O_oMy guess they limit visual mods in that game for legality reasons you know nude mods, terrian alteration to get adavantges in pvp or pve content etc . . . In WoW I did alter and even had sreen shots on the old forums of my character is a demon before the demon transformance was added to the dem.
Bold... dare I say, suicidal move.
I ran mods in WoW from TBC to WoD ... many years. Mostly related to sounds, music and loading screens. MPQs were so easily extracted.
I also changed the armor of the female Nightelf sentinels in Darnassus to the armor they wore in Feralas because I liked it better and edited the texture of the Tailrings of my Draenei to look like actual gold instead of the brown corroded mess (darkest skin tone).
Obviously I never used mods for any gameplay advantage. Nothing ever happened to me.
I'd call it a visual improvement, that dude looks totally UHD now. Just look at that textural detail of the horns and dat beard!![]()

That doesn't explain how it affects others, though.
Chances are, if your glam is bad enough to make me cringe looking at it, then it's most likely intended to take people who normally don't care and force them to care. And then I'll avoid you like the plague, not seeing your glamour anyway.
This feature is supposed to be a QoL thing. It's like saying not having the blacklist would force people to actually listen to and subject themselves to people they do not want to communicate with. What it does is force the players to get more creative, while asking for such QoL features on forums.

It really depends on how they implement the feature.
If they let you "blacklist" individual characters it wouldn't affect people with, lets call it "purpose oriented, proper" glamors.
If they just give you a toggle to eliminate ALL glamors, then everyone would be affected, ridiculous glam or not.
Uuh as far as I am aware, there were multiple suggestions, from item specific filters, to blacklist, standardized AF gear for everyone up to the extreme of complete character replacements.

That is true. Then again, I thought the context shifted to talking about blacklists and filters. It really depends on how they implement the feature.

Yeah, I did luck out nothing happened to me either, but a good friend told me I could lose my account so I stopped posting images, though I did help a few friends alter their game. I remember I wanted a glaive, so I altered a weapon to get a glaive. I never did anything for gameplay advantage, sure at times the thought may have crossed my mind especially to make gathering easier, but I choose not to.Because your solution affects others. Showing off glams to others is a major reason the feature exists.

I do get why mods are not a thing, I wish they were, and I wish SE had a more robust moding community but the one we have is not bad either full of great people, some odd balls but that is every community.
It is never going to happen but I and many others tried to just talk about how a feature like this could be added, but no matter what people cannot seem to look past why someone may want the feature. The world we live in right.
On a side note, in a magical world, what if they had the option to hide glam, but it also made it so the persons name was not show just the first two letters. That is another layer of assumptions one would have to go through to know if it as their charater or not.

Yes, just like how it's okay to take a photo of a building, and draw on the photograph but it's not okay to tamper with the building itself.
EDIT: to clarify the game is SE's property, and using mods that change how that property looks does infringe on their ownership rights. But using third party software to edit a screenshot is not. Because the screenshot is not the game.
