If anything, I want lunchbox skins. Just a couple of extra models and a color scheme or two.
Guess I can dream...

It's your magical fanny pack. Collecting your aether and condensing it into ammunition for your weapon.
I don't even want a lore justification to hide that eyesore, I just want to be able to hide it ,_,

I just accepted the lunchbox and work my glamour around it. We’re already wielding a giant mechanical crossbow and a drill bazooka so the lunchbox is already in that aesthetic. Hide weapon is always an option if you don’t like wearing it around town.
I use the makai pistol too, but I don’t see them making a custom thing where they put it on your hip considering you can’t get it anymore and almost every gun that isn’t that gun is a rifle and won’t fit there.
The only thing I dont like about the aetherotransformer is that it's the same across all weapons instead of it having it's own style with different weapons. Dunno why they didn't just make it a sub weapon like PLD which is the only other combat job really using it.
Same reason the off-hand NIN dagger and the RDM floaty thing aren't. After PLD they realized sub weapons are stupid and serve no purpose beyond making gearing up more annoying.
Another thought...
PLD have the ability to hide their shield completely through the use of a specific glamour. That's despite their shield playing a large part in regards to their fighting style. With that in mind an option to hide the MCH box would not be much of a stretch.

Currently Machinist has no connection with the lore, so removing that wouldn't change anything. At least until we get next rework, hopefully.
We need the lunchbox to cast Peloton
