    Question regarding MCH's Lunchbox

    So I was wondering...

Given the current nature of GNB, in that it uses aetherially enhanced ammunition to fuel its skills.

Which is the same concept as MCH, whom has the Aetherotransformer (AKA Lunchbox) to aid with this process (As well as to create ammunition I believe?)

Would it not be theoretically possible for Stephanivien to happen across an adventurer wielding a Gunblade (Given the nature of the GNB job quests) and then be able to study how it works in order to devise a way for MCH's to utilize their guns without need of the fugly Lunchbox stuck on their hip?

I mean, he's a smart guy. Surely he'd be able to figure something out?

Possibly done in a side-quest in the same vein as the Egi-Glamour one with a command to be able to show/hide the Lunchbox (Since I assume some people might have some glamours that work with it).

I'd very much like the option to hide it. It distracts from many attempts at creating a matching outfit. It wouldn't be so bad if we had more variety in how it looked, but we don't.

    It's not the same technology.

MCH guns shoot magical bullets. Gunblades use actual physical cartridges that have to be charged up and reloaded.

MCH uses its lunchbox for some of the other abilities that don’t necessarily involve shooting so we would be left with some awkward animations where we’re interacting with a device that doesn’t exist anymore.

Another thing of note is that gunbreaker gunblades don’t actually shoot bullets. You pull the trigger and expend a cartridge to create an effect or magically enhance a strike. Even the long-range attack for GNB has you swing an arc of magical energy at the enemy rather than a bullet.

MCH guns shoot physical bullets created by condensed aether (Directly into the gun if I remember the Job quests correctly). The "Magical" bullets was the old Reload mechanic where you would load in "Charged" bullets.

Of course, these days, MCH are pulling missiles out of their butts and conjuring up giant bullets behind them to chuck at enemies rather than actually shooting from their gun.

Meaning that MCH thus operates in a rather similar fashion to BLU wherein they condense aether into physical objects such as missiles and needles and what not.

Even if it was still a different technology, it doesn't mean that Stephanivien couldn't be inspired by its functionality and compact design to create something new.

From what I can recall, it's used for all of 3 skills. Peloton, Tactician and Hypercharge.

Which could easily be altered. Given the number of other unique animations that MCH has for such skills (For example, Reassemble's animation of working the gun with a spanner would work well for Hypercharge. Barrel Stabilizer's hologram screens or Rook Overdrive's wrist mounted device could work for Peloton/Tactician)

I'd love to hide the thing. Having it missing for the few animations that hit it wouldn't really be any more distracting than, say, a bard pulling a harp or flute out of thin air.

I use the Makai pistol always. I'd love nothing more to have it attached to my hip and not my back and the lunchbox gone. The Makai pistol especially looking stupid since it's the smallest gun, and is a terrible back attachment.

Yeah, to emphasise that, the default Gunblade has a cylinder that doesn't even line up with the barrel.

while it may be true that gnb and mch are different, i still want the option to hide it (same for ast card thingy). the awkward animation wouldnt bother me, its just like the pld shield where you block with just your arm :^)
