SE it is time for a full spectrum dye.

Tera online had this along with regular dyes.

It provided a sliding scale so the PLAYER could create ANY color they chose.
The possibilities were amazing, it was FANTASTIC!!

Please add a dye like this in game, at every ones disposal so we can actually enjoy the dyeing of gear and get the exact shade /intensity we want.
    ty ♥

(PS, the game does have major issues creating intense shades of orange and red in dyes, makeup/hair color etc... please fix )

OP, that's mostly due to cloudy weather + time of the day. It happens with your character's skin tone as well. If I go to Gridania while it's foggy and day time, my character's complexion looks so much lighter it doesn't even look like the same character. For some reason cloudy and foggy weather desaturates yellows, reds and browns ingame.

I like metallic orange, I use it for the feathers in my Phoenix glamour, but yeah, it does look quite different in the preview vs out and about.

It would be great if we could have metallic dyes on chocobos though, I miss my pretty silver chocobo from FF13-2

Metallic dyes are just weird. I think it's the way they coded them to reflect light. I had the Eureka RDM outfit dyed metallic blue and depending on the lighting it varied anywhere from deep blue through mid-tone blue to magenta. And it was definitely the lighting doing it. I could stand directly in front of a light source that made my front side magenta while my back side was royal blue. I happened to like the effect, but I can totally see being frustrated by not getting the colour in the preview.

Metallic red does it too. Honestly I just want pure white and jet black to not be rare dye anymore. I don't like having to pay 500k or RL money for a pot for basic white or black dye so that I don't have gear that looks like dirty dirty snow or a black shirt that's been washed too many times.

A lot of the metallic dyes seem to have two colours to them. Sky blue has a bit of green, metallic blue has a bit of purple, etc. you see this quite clearly in the starlight tights, where metallic sky blue starlight tights look blue fading into green

Benefits of recruiting friends. The problem is getting said friends to stick with XIV.

I have tons of gold chocobo feathers for enough pure white to turn a small house into a winter wonderland.

One of the biggest problems with lighting in this game is that a lot of it is treated as a screen overlay instead of a source. That's definitely an easy way to handle it, but it looks really weird in some situations, or when it affects something else that itself is supposed to be an emissive.
