The big problem with piety is that it feels kinda similar to the old accuracy (that was removed from a reason !), we need a certain amount of it or we're useless, but when you have enough the extra points are worth almost 0 (they might help recover from unexpected mistakes).
Thats why this stats needs something going for it, like they did with Tenacity so that having a lot of it (and yeah 2k6 is A LOT) does not feel useless but only sub optimal.

Actually I could use Piety on my RDM. Chain ressing leaves me pretty dry.
On WHM you can't even do that so eh.

With no fight in the current tier having hard heal checks that you can’t heal with some ogcds and Alexander ultimate we’re the only hard heal intensive phase is living and a bit brute chaser. I doubt that you piety is any decent. And im a healer that rather as crit and det in my gear to have better hot ticks and a universal state, and them coming to shiva and have nothing to heal except the last arkh morn and the aid phase. The rest whas ocg healing enough.

Yes, I'm aware. But that is why I said it was a prog stat. When I first went into TEA and Eden Verse Savage (blind) I was thankful for the piety with all the raising i was doing. Its not needed now because most of the stuff is cleared/ guides are being made. But i personally recommend taking piety on week 1. It helped that most of the ilvl280 crafting gear already had piety on it.

The problem is rather that most fights depend on 8 players being alive a lot of times. Ramuh has his Spears, Garuda and ifrit the tether, 7 kills you if you fail color and if not you have 100 % heal lb too cheese it ( that dps check in comparison too shiva is a bloody joke) and on shiva week 1 the dps check is so tight that if you have 1 or 2 died it’s already a wipe. The problem is the only job that needs piety with lackluster mana Regen is astro and even then I did the fight and had only mp problems at the very end, just because the dps check forced us the spam malefic/broil

This is one instance where World of Warcraft had a good idea. Used to be you could "reforge" gear to change a certain amount of stat you didn't prefer into one you did. Couldn't reforge all of it, but you could reforge a lot of it.

But in the end that just encourages lazy design and itemization because players would almost always change most equipment.

But on topic, yes, piety is the new Parry / Tenacity. It is mostly pointless. You either really need it or you don't.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

I would actually kill for that feature in ff 14. Like for example as whm we got bad raid weapons since middle of stormblood. It’s infuriating and wants me to find the people who had that great idea and curse at them.

Savage and tomestone gear will be exchanged for GC seal/desynthesis/glamour dress/x anyway so, might as well be able to do something meaninful during its lifetime.
I'd be for that kind of system. I hate det/sps - sps/pie gear.
