They already need to make a different set for women since the 2 sexes have different player models. Asking for everyone to look the same would be boring and bad design. I’m not a fan of tank gear where women get shorts for some inexplicable reason, but you can take the fashionable gender-specific WHM/AST/SCH designs from my cold, dead hands.

Yes, but making it different on one means you're making a new design or editing the original design which sounds like more work to me compared to just sticking with one design for both.

I'm not sure why you think not locking clothing is going to make everyone look the same when not only does everyone tend to go along with the current new flavor of the month/week/day glamour anyway, but lack of actual character customization makes most characters all look like clones of each other, viera especially. (I mean come on the valentines event had hundreds of people crowded into same instance in every server wearing the exact same thing, it doesn't get worse than that.) There's already thousands of other players with the exact same face you have, with the exact same clothing restrictions as you. Giving you the option to choose between wearing a suit or a dress and so on instead of just the dress is going to help separate you ever so slightly from every other viera/female around. Now instead of 100% of females wearing the female variant, you have a 50/50 on females wearing either option, and now apply this to everything.

Personally I feel only being given the one option on any certain thing just makes me feel like any other generic girl #4687, I see people who wear the same stuff I do all the time, there's only everything to gain from this. I would gladly wear the male variant of any gear you like just to give us both the benefit of not wearing the same thing
