She is able to fight like she always did, she is able to seemingly read all the stuff too. All that hangs over her is a possible death somewhere in the future which is imo not that huge of a deal because 1. she would have died without it anyways and 2. there could always be a solution to this problem.

A direct consequence would have been that she is not able to do her work anymore. That she simply cant read all those things that well even with her new vision. Just some stones that are thrown in her path..
First of all, she wouldn't have died anyway. You don't die from being blind. She is using her aether to SEE. The Elder Seedseer and the elementals pulled her out of the Lifestream with the help of Y'mitrha and thus saved her life. The blindness is the consequence of so long in the Lifestream/using a forbidden spell like Flow

The direct consequence of Y'shtola being blind is character development. That she is the kind of person who is prepared to SLOWLY KILL HERSELF in order to continue doing her job is hugely significant in terms of who she is as a person. And every time I see those pale eyes I remember that's what she's doing. What's more she NEVER complains (unlike some of them)
