First of all it would be very lore breaking to have everyone be dressed a warrior (even though it would be hilarious) and if you suggest that everyone be in AF gear, some of it can be revealing, especially if you are a female character.

But you don't give a toss about what I have to say because apparently your desire to change everything to your world view somehow trumps my desire to have my character seen in the outfit I chose for her.

Apparently I'm unreasonable because I don't want you to dress my own character into something else I did not choose.

How am I controlling someone else by wearing a glam? How is that controlling someone else? I do not force people to look at my glams. If they dislike them they can simply look away. I don't grab them by the ears and force them to behold my character.

By this logic you can go to a stranger in the street and complain that they are controlling what you see by wearing an outfit you don't like.

This thread is starting to look like a classic case of "why oh why can't everyone just do what I want?!? SE change the game so I can be rid of the inferior fashion sense of other players!"

I'm sure if the devs are reading this thread they're rolling their eyes so much they're starting to fall out of their skulls. They don't create all this gear only to have it hidden by someone who is incapable of existing in the same plane of existence as someone who has a different taste in clothing.

Some of you lot need to learn how to exist in a mmo setting.
No, I'm saying it would likely be a rare occurrence that someone who takes screenshots would include you in said screenshots and also have this toggle option enabled and also share it publicly; and yeah, you are unreasonable. You want to control what I see. Again, when I'm in a dungeon I HAVE to see it. I am not trying to control what you see, but you are trying to control what I see.

As I said earlier in the thread, I couldn't care less if you chose to display me as a naked Male Mi'qote on your screen. I still see my character for what it is, and I'm not so vain that I would be offended just because someone else altered my PIXELS.

If you were thinking things through you'd realise that this "solution" is pretty infeasible as it'd involve the game tracking 3rd party programs. Which then gets the devs into hot water around privacy concerns as they'd be tracking stuff on computers beyond the game.

The only plausible one would be screenshots taken in-game but then you just use one of the tools that let you take them separate from the game.(some of which are just built into your OS) Which is doesn't really cover that much of the concern.

Oh no, how dare I want people to see me in the clothes I chose for my character. I should be more tolerant of intolerant people and dress like a citizen of Amaurot.

You're the one who's intolerant though. You want to block people from having a feature that would not hinder you in any way.

    You misunderstand me.

I'm not interested in exerting some form of control over others, I honestly couldn't care less if I looked like literal potato on your screen, stream or picture. It's entirely correct that that has no bearing on me at all and I don't care about that.

What I do care about is that this sort of thing further encourages people to be unwilling or even unable to accept others with differing views, appearances or whatever. It's another thing that promotes intolerance, something that no healthy MMO community needs nor wants.

This is an MMO and interactions with other players is at it's very core. Some of those interactions may be good, some of them may not, but as long as they do not cross the line of being abusive or genuinely negative (And this game is very hard to fault there, social reports tend to get taken very seriously) then it's all part of the experience and makes MMOs the colourful and often wild experience they are.

If this was a single player game, I wouldn't be here objecting. But it's not. It's an MMO and social interactions are it's foundation.

This. WOuldn't give a crap if this was a single player game without a social/community aspect. In a MMO, keep this crap out.

I hate when people share a screenshot with my incredibly generic character in it (It's like, yeah everyone looks the same as everyone else due to incredibly limited slider selection, especially races like viera where almost everyone has to use the same couple hairs, or miqo'te where everyone uses like the same faces, and somehow no matter what hair color or style they use even differences in the very faces they all look the same. Like I'm talking so similar that I cannot discern the difference between one or the other. Like, so similar that I have seen people's avatars on this very forum, and I have to take a double take because maybe I posted and I forgot I posted, even though I wasn't even blackout drunk!)! Honestly it's a personal attack.

Why do we even have the option to blacklist anyone then or turn the profanity filter on? Because for sure, by the logic of this forum, that is intolerance of the freedom of expression individuals have, right? Surely, we should not be allowed that option and they should be allowed to control what appears in our chat log. We should also just 'deal with' the profanity that appears in the chat logs as well like everyone is suggesting we deal with your clothing.

You appear to want this feature because you can't tolerate how some people choose to dress their virtual character. You are asking/demanding dev time be spend on a feature which has the only real functionality of supporting intolerance of others.

Every time you have ever blocked someone on any social media anywhere, you are displaying your intolerance by your own logic.
